Well he really did pull this off very well. Remained focused, on message, along with some of the Trump flair amid it.....and revealed some things I wasn't aware of before this.

His retained the attention of his audience... as well, clapping etc. at appropriate points and much like you might see for a favorable Presidential Candidate.

He's certainly appeared to "pass this test" very well IMO. Hope we see ore of this..and I think we will.

Easier to say who is not: Democrats and #neverTrump. Funny how one has a hard time telling them apart anymore.
Trump is for America First.

he has also said the opposite

Let schools compete: charters, vouchers, and magnets. (Nov 2015)
Cut Department of Education and Common Core. (Oct 2015)
We spend more per student than any other nation. (Jun 2015)
Common Core is a disaster. (Jun 2015)
Cut the Department of Education way, way down. (Jun 2015)
Founded Trump University to teach the art of deal-making. (Jun 2015)
    Opposes Common Core. (Feb 2015)
Common Core means Washington tells you what to study. (Feb 2015)
Americans don't know their roots: study your ancestry. (Apr 2010)
Comprehensive education instead of limiting subjects. (Apr 2010)
Teach citizenship; stop “dumbing down”. (Jul 2000)
End “creative spelling,” “estimating,” & “empowerment”. (Jul 2000)
Bring on the competition; tear down the union walls. (Jul 2000)
School choice will improve public schools. (Jul 2000)

Common core is already a voluntary program, decided upon by the state.  I can understand getting rid of the federal common core program and getting rid of the Dept of Ed.  But communities already have control of their education programs.  So how is he going to put education back into the hands of the communities when it is really already there?

Well that does depend on the state you are in as you might know. The state can and does require their own regulations penidng their involvement.

But rather than split hairs Trumps stand is to sustain  local control and get gov. out of the schools.....I think that's clear.

Look.....if you have something to offer to the topic here go ahead and speak...but I will not get into stupid and idiotic nonsense like there is on FR...

I've already made clear I understand your position...there is nothing to gain by your comment so know I will ignore those that don't address the topic.

Hey, don't get upset with me because I remember our conversations about Trump...and don't presume to give me posting instructions.

I get that you could be touchy about trying to convince yourself that Trump is actually a halfway decent person when you know better.  The thing is, I understand why someone would support Trump because they don't want Hillary...I don't agree with it, but a stance of "Yeah, Trump's a sleaze, but I'm willing to take a chance" is at least honest.   But trying to whitewash him so you can be at ease with yourself?  Spare me.

Trump mocked a disabled person for laughs.  If you support him, you own that.

No, actually what you wrote isn't clear at all.  What you're saying is Trump's big stand on education is to leave it the way that it is, but make people think it's something else?

I know, Mech. Trump's superficial understanding of everything is a feature.

He does not have any interest in "winning over" conservatives. He wants to coerce and threaten them, not win them over.

That is how fascist's roll.
Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning, they want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

I'm for Donald Trump being president solely because I think he will make an excellent chief executive officer and commander-in-chief. The part where he puts an end to the Bush and Clinton dynasties is just an add on bonus.  ^-^

Trump claimed Education was one of the top 3 functions of the federal government not too long ago
