They Are Putting Armed Guards On Food Trucks In Venezuela
By Michael Snyder, on June 23rd, 2016

Security Guard - Public DomainWe are watching what happens when the economy of a developed nation totally implodes.  Just a few years ago, Venezuela was the wealthiest nation in all of South America, and they still have more proven oil reserves than anyone else on the entire planet including Saudi Arabia.  But now people down there are so hungry and so desperate that some of them are actually hunting dogs, cats and pigeons for food.  Just a few days ago, I gave a talk down at Morningside during which I warned that someday we would see armed guards on food trucks in America.  After that talk was done, I went back up to my room and I came across a New York Times article which had been republished by MSN that explained that this exact thing is already happening down in Venezuela…

In the late 60s, my cousin who spent much of her time in Ireland told a joke about the Beeb interviewing a 'man on the street' in Belfast. When asked about the 'troubles', the man replied " What troubles? Belfast is a lovely town, peaceful, a great place to raise the children." Somewhat shocked by the reply considering recent violence, the reporter asked "What do you do for a living?" and got the reply "I'm a tail gunner on a milk truck."

It was funny then, not so much now.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

They are setting up a new food distribution system called CLAP that will only give food to those who are pro-regime.

Also turning down offers of humanitarian aid, which would also only go to those that are pro-Maduro.

Actually, it is not only not insane, but predictable human behaviour under severe stress. Read the 900 Days account of life in Leningrad during the Siege and you get a feel for how humans will act when the resources get thin.

That it got to this point is the insane part, but when people are left to rely on a Socialist Government, this is the end result.

Maduro has done everything he could think of to stop the recall, they have changed the rules and procedures a lot!

Just when you think it is over, boom!, a new hurdle...

June 10, 2016. In the city's largest slum, dozens of people looted bakeries and food trucks in a spat of food-related violence that has become increasingly common....

And here's the.....' Opposition leader Henrique Capriles'... reacting after getting pepper sprayed by Bolivarian National Police during a protest in Caracas, Venezuela, Tuesday, June 7, 2016.......Protesters were turned back from the headquarters of Venezuela's electoral body where the group attempted to march to demand the government allow it to pursue a recall referendum against President Nicolas Maduro.
