A Virginia delegate to the Republican National Convention filed a class action lawsuit in federal court Friday challenging a state law that binds delegates to support the primary winner at the nominating convention.

The outcome of the lawsuit could have significant implications for Donald Trump's nomination, as it will be a test case of a key argument being pushed by some Trump opponents who want to see him stopped at a contested convention.

Trump's really unifying the party isn't he?  Instead, he's hiring 150 goons to keep everybody in line at the Convention.

Trump is incapable of unification.  And too many of these delegates have seen the real Trump since he won the nomination that it doesn't matter that Manafort has him on a choke chain right now.

Trump cannot win the presidency, absent a terrorist attack with a lot of dead people.

Odds are he will lose the suit. Why? Because hes not a normal voter, hes a delegate from the State. That's legally an agency relationship and any authority he has comes from his State not himself. See other agency relationships. No doubt he signed contracts to perform here.

Quote
Delegate means to transfer power or authority from one person to another. It implies acting on behalf of another for another's benefit. However, some duties are nondelegable and must be performed personally. For example, when a trusteee has a fiduciary duty in a very important transaction, he/she may be required to handle the matter personally. It may also refer to a person chosen to attend a convention, conference or meeting on behalf of an organization, constituency, interest group or business, or one elected by the people of a territory to represent them in Congress, where he has the right of debating, but not of voting.

In an employment relationship,  delegation is the downward transfer of formal authority from superior to subordinate. The employee is empowered to act for the supervisor, while the supervisor remains accountable for the outcome. Delegation of authority is a person-to-person relationship requiring trust, commitment, and contracting between the supervisor and the employee.

If he does not want to do his job he should resign.
