Alligator spotted along Guadalupe River in Comal County

That is kind of close to a popular area with tubers. I see lots of those little buses hauling tubes from the bottom to the top of the tubing area in New Braunfels.

You expect to see alligators in Florida -- not in the rivers of Central Texas.

"Just saw something on the side of the bank kind of move," says Neil Griffin.

He was kayaking with a group of about 30 people on the Guadalupe River when he saw an alligator, about four feet long.

Griffin says, "I was shocked and surprised, I've seen alligators before but never in that part of Texas."

He adds, "I wasn't scared of it, just shocked to see it. I wanted to take a picture of it so people would believe me.".

There was one spotted last August too! Here is a picture from that encounter:

Some idiot probably disposed of a pet gator in the Comal River.  This is very unfortunate.  The Comal River has been great for family tubing for decades and decades.

Either a pet that was released or maybe it escaped during the flooding. It could even be the same one spotted last year in the pic.

My first thought was about the tubers, too.
