Donald Trump is constantly being accused of narcissism, as well he might be. But it’s of the traditional sort.

What really dominates campaign 2016 and is manipulating our votes is a far more pernicious variety known as moral narcissism.

What is that, you might ask?

Unlike that well-known narcissism of a Greek youth transfixed by his reflection, or the more psychoanalytic version — neurotics so obsessed with themselves they lose contact with reality — it is a social form of narcissism that pervades our culture and orders our lives to an extraordinary degree.

It is a pathology that underlies American liberalism today — and a good deal of the right as well.

:facepalm2:

I would point out that the article concedes up front that Trump is a narcissist.  Surely the GOP can do better than an Obama retread wearing orange face.

As a businessman, Trump is giving the customer what they want — and what they want is to be rid of these moral narcissists from both sides of the political aisle. In that sense, when he boasts that he’s merely leading a “movement,” he is quite literally telling the truth.

Some customers want crazy and that's what they're getting with Trump.

The rest of us, not so much.
