COMPLICITY! GOP Senators Cave To Gun Control Filibuster

Apparently, Republicans caved to showboating Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy and his attention-seeking filibuster.
The Democrat was trying to get gun-control legislation in an upcoming bill that would “close the terror gap and universal background checks.”
What that really means is that federal law enforcement – using a secret list – can deny citizens their rights based only on suspicion.
And Republicans went along with it. It’s shameful. Here’s the New York Daily News gloating:
After more than 14 hours, Sen. Chris Murphy ended a filibuster and said he had secured a chance to end the frustrating lack of action on gun violence.
The Connecticut Democrat tweeted at 1:53 a.m. Thursday that there will be a vote “on closing the terror gap & universal background checks.”
Murphy’s filibuster, in which he was joined by fellow Democrats including Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, began at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Murphy had said earlier in the day that he would remain on the Senate floor “until we get some signal, some sign that we can come together on these two measures, that we can get a path forward on addressing this epidemic in a meaningful, bipartisan way.”
It was not immediately clear what sort of agreement occurred to prompt the senators to end their marathon debate shortly after two 2 a.m., though near the end of the discussion lawmakers were congratulating each other on achieving their goal.
