10 June 2016 Music Thread
« on: June 10, 2016, 06:26:44 pm »
I know I have posted Traffic's Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys before ... but I think I found the Long Cut they recorded in 1971 that I used to play as an Over-Night DJ at our college Radio Station.  Sometimes a man needs a bit of uninterupted personal time to do various and sundry things away from the board.

Side note: Always be sure you have a clean unscratched platter of vinyl cued up....oh and lock the studio door. Keeps their boyfriends and the Dean of Students out...

All right, TBR, it is time for this town to get *down*! Now, you got Johnny... Doctor Johnny Fever, and I am burnin' up in here! Whoo! Whoo! We all in critical condition, babies, but you can tell me where it hurts, because I got the healing prescription here from the big 'TRB musical medicine cabinet. Now I am talking about your 50,000 watt intensive care unit, babies! So just sit right down, relax, open your ears real wide and say, "Give it to me straight, Doctor, I can take it!" .....

You have to play your strong suit Pookie.  Go with what you know!   Play the Saturday any way you can.    I searched for songs with Cincinnati and drew a blank after you posted WKRP!  :)

IMNSHO,Traffic's 'Welcome to the Canteen is THE greatest recording in history of a live performance, and they were playing in a freaking bar. Steve Winwood was and is a musical genius, and Dave Mason didn't get many bricks thrown at him, either.

I'm fairly sure Traffic toured in the past 3 or 4 years and our station would play this long cut; very good song.

It is customary to talk about their first album but this one and their subsequent "Starless and Bible Black" really did it for me.

Ok,first off you need to know I have never been a fan of jazz in my entire life. My description of the typical jazz band was "5 guys who all know a few notes and not a single one of them knowing a whole song.

Then I stumbled across Melody Gardot, and suddenly there was the bright light bulb that went off in my head, and I said to myself,"DAYUM! So THAT is what they were all trying to do!"

I guess you also need to know I have forgotten how to embed video's here.

That song, "Come Saturday Morning":
Quote
The Sterile Cuckoo (released in the UK as Pookie) is a 1969 American comedy-drama film released by Paramount Pictures that tells the story of an eccentric young couple whose relationship deepens despite their differences and inadequacies, and stars Liza Minnelli, Wendell Burton, and Tim McIntire.[

So, maybe our friend will see this later. I may repeat. I did not know this, I had heard of the movie "the Sterile Cuckoo".

That one strikes a chord with me since it was recorded for the soundtrack of the movie The Sterile Cuckoo. Not only did I see the movie, it starred Liza Minnelli whose character was named...Pookie!

(oops...I responded as soon as you posted w/o seeing your follow-up post...)

Will someone help me out with the learning how to structure the reply so the video picture shows up instead of just the link?

I saw that suggestion somewhere else and I've been doing it, but still getting just the link showing up.
