"What's the point of 'sticking to your principles' when it comes to Donald Trump, when you don't stick to your principles when it comes to stopping the IRS from targeting your supporters, or spending, or any of these other vile policies? The word 'principle' has to have some real-world meaning. It's not an aberration."

-Mark Steyn

"Journalism is about covering the news.  With a pillow.  Until it stops moving."    - David Burge (Iowahawk)

Is this with reference to the politician or the citizen?

When a Trump acolyte posts the quote, THAT applies only to YOU - the voter, required to vote for Trump.

Trump is free to stick to whatever principles DuJour he is feeling at the moment… or not.

With all things Trump, they're not principles - they're SUGGESTIONS.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Steyn, sitting in for Rush today, had a terrific segment...in which this quote was a part.

He said that #nevertrumps say they stand on "principles" as a major reason for shunning Trump.

He then said that we've sent "Principled" Republican Conservatives to Washington...and what have we gotten for it?

They have become part and parcel of the problem by not opposing the LEFTIST agentda whatsoever.

Allowing a corrupt IRS to target our own base...that was just one of the examples he used.

It was quite good, @RoosGirl

I don't disagree with the quote except that it cannot reasonably apply to anyone but politicians.   When I say reasonable, I do not think it reasonable for conservatives to be expected to go to jail for witholding their tax payment. What that would do to conservative families would be disasterous.

:bs:  There's nothing rational about choosing to be a coward.  Imagine if more people had chosen to sit out the revolution in 1776 because they were too afraid to change the entrenched system ruling over them.  IMO, you sitting out this election brings shame to the American spirit and removes all hope for future generations.

It also ensures that your "principles" @RedHead will die a quick political death --- because you'll give the power to President Clinton and your "principles" are number one on her hit list.

Just admit that you hate conserrvatism
