You mean like how an Irish-American judge might be a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians?

Or a German-American judge being a member of the Der Deutsche Orden der Harugari?

No, actually not at all like that. This isn't the "Grand order of Mexican descendants"...its "The race", a different connotation entirely. Further, have the Ancient Order of Hibernians been calling for the overthrow of American government in the Southwestern United States in favor of a Mexican land grab? Do the Deutsch Orden der Harugari believe in the elite racial status of their ethnicity? If so, than you'd have some parallels. If not, you're just throwing a little smoke to obscure the outright racism that is embodied by groups like La Raza, MECHA, Aztlan and others.

Glad I could help. They want AZ, NM and California as well...all part of "Aztlan". Unreal that this stuff is being ignored by national media.

They use a map of the US region which was covered by the 1848 Treaty of Hidalgo plus the Texas annexation, signed by Mexico.

IOW they wish to renig on their previous agreement.

Anybody can Google Mexico 1848, Treaty of Hidalgo, Texas Annexation, etc.

So what I see is that you believe that Mexicans are a seperate race... and that the term 'la Raza' is proof because it translates to 'the Race'.

Culture is a factor here.

Otherwise you end up like the guy arguing that its impossible for Arabs to be anti-Semitic; as they are Semites, too.

Furthermore, you are still trying to conflate the organization the judge belongs as the same as the more commonly known organization named 'la Raza'.

It sounds so ridiculous, that I think a lot of people laugh it off...but these folks down here are serious about this stuff and their ranks are growing every day. They get cover from the MSM and Dem politicians, and now it seems a little help from the #NeverTrump movement as well....or at least, some sense of justification from them. Its nauseating and sad all at once.

They are both organizations titled with the term race and meant to promote "the race" specifically. If you are asking me to do detective work and uncover the links between these groups, its just not going to happen. Whether they share official ties or not, they are advocating for a group or ideal that is determined by race...and FYI, I'm fully aware that neither Hispanic nor Mexican are a race, they are alternatively an ethnicity and a nationality. La Raza is a well known and specifically used term in the Hispanic communities of the West dating back at least to the 1920's. Suggesting that there is no connection between the National lawyers organization known by the title of "The race" and the National Council of La Raza, is simply absurd. The groups are using the term La Raza for its specific connotation within the Hispanic community, particularly in the Mexican immigrant community out here in the West.

In both cases, that of The National Council of La Raza and the La Raza Lawyers Assoication, the purpose of furthering a group or ideology under the innately racial term of "The Race" is clearly...literally...racist. Yes this is an issue of culture, a culture of accepting that kind of racism without flinching.

la raza means different things to different people. It isn't as simple as "the race".

Oh, it means what it sounds like it means. Its about promotion of a particular group of people based on race (though it is a misnomer, as Hispanic is not a "race" but rather an ethnicity). Here's a good compilation of just how "racist" La Raza actually is:

Here are 15 things you should know about “The Race:”
15. “The Race” supports driver’s licenses for illegal aliens.
14.”The Race” demands in-state tuition discounts for illegal alien students that are not available to law-abiding US citizens and law-abiding legal immigrants.
13. “The Race” vehemently opposes cooperative immigration enforcement efforts between local, state, and federal authorities.
12. “The Race” opposes a secure fence on the southern border.
11. “The Race” joined the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee in a failed lawsuit attempt to prevent the feds from entering immigration information into a key national crime database–and to prevent local police officers from accessing the data.
10. “The Race” opposed the state of Oklahoma’s tough immigration enforcement-first laws, which cut off welfare to illegal aliens, put teeth in employer sanctions, and strengthened local-federal cooperation and information-sharing.
9. “The Race” joined other open-borders, anti-assimilationists and sued to prevent Proposition 227, California’s bilingual education reform ballot initiative, from becoming law.
8. “The Race” bitterly protested common-sense voter ID provisions as an “absolute disgrace.”
7. “The Race” has consistently opposed post-9/11 national security measures at every turn.
6. Former “Race” president Raul Yzaguirre, Hillary Clinton’s Hispanic outreach advisor said this: “US English is to Hispanics as the Ku Klux Klan is to blacks.” He was referring to US English the nation’s oldest, largest citizens’ action group dedicated to preserving the unifying role of the English language in the United States. “The Race” also pioneered Orwellian open-borders Newspeak and advised the Mexican government on how to lobby for illegal alien amnesty while avoiding the terms “illegal” and “amnesty.”
5. “The Race” gives mainstream cover to a poisonous subset of ideological satellites, led by Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan (MEChA), which the late GOP Rep. Charlie Norwood rightly characterized as “a radical racist group…[and] one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West.”
4. “The Race” is currently leading a smear campaign against staunch immigration enforcement leaders and has called for TV and cable news netowrks to keep immigration enforcement proponents off the airwaves–in addition to pushing for Fairness Doctrine policies to shut up their foes. The New York Times reported that current “Race” president Janet Murguia believes “hate speech” should “not be tolerated, even if such censorship were a violation of First Amendment rights.”
3. “The Race” sponsors militant ethnic nationalist charter schools subsidized by your public tax dollars (at least $8 million in federal education grants). The schools include “Aztlan Academy” in Tucson, AZ, the Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, AZ, Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School in St. Paul, Minn., and Academia Semillas del Pueblo in Los Angeles, whose principal inveighed: “We don’t want to drink from a White water fountain, we have our own wells and our natural reservoirs and our way of collecting rain in our aqueducts. We don’t need a White water fountain…ultimately the White way, the American way, the neo liberal, capitalist way of life will eventually lead to our own destruction.”
2. “The Race” has perfected the art of the p.c. shakedown at taxpayer expense, pushing relentlessly to lower home loan standards for Hispanic borrowers, reaping millions in federal “mortgage counseling” grants, seeking special earmarks, and partnering with banks that do business with illegal aliens.
1. “The Race” thrives on ethnic supremacy–and the elite sheeple’s unwillingness to call it what it is. As historian Victor Davis Hanson observes: “[The] organization’s very nomenclature ‘The National Council of La Raza’ is hate speech to the core. Despite all the contortions of the group, Raza (as its Latin cognate suggests), reflects the meaning of ‘race”‘ in Spanish, not ‘the people’ — and that’s precisely why we don’t hear of something like ‘The National Council of the People’ which would not confer the buzz notion of ethnic, racial, and tribal chauvinism.

Trump is clearly racist in this regard, and his campaign is going to continue to unravel if he continues down this road.

In reality the La Raza militants make up only a small minority of Hispanics in the US, generally younger people inspired by professional agitators. marxist subgroups. They are subversive. They capitalize on our free speech tradition. Such activities resulted in 4 dead in Ohio in 1970, BTW. (students threw rocks and urine at guardsmen-4 students were killed)

It is too bad the #nevertrumps on this site fail to even know what they are talking about in such matters.

The lawyer group could IF THEY WANTED TO NOT BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIOLENT LA RAZA GROUP,  chosen a DIFFERENT NAME.

My wife is the child of Italian immigrants. The equivalent ethnic group in the US does NOT GO BY LA COSA NOSTRA, so as to NOT BE ASSOCIATED with a violent, criminal element.

This stuff is not brain surgery. There has been NO condemnation of the violence by Hillary, Bernie, Obama, Cruz.

It is disappointing that #nevertrumps on this site resort to parsing words, instead of full throated condemnations as well.

Unfortunately Cruz started his decline, when he failed to give full throated condemnation of violence in Chicago Mar 11. Now his supprters are following that blunder, again.

The similarities with 1968 are mounting.

Yes, that's the "National Council of La Raza" which is well known and despicable. From the dictionary.com link I provided, it has different meanings, originated in Spain and does not automatically mean the National Council of La Raza which has a very specific agenda.

Have to agree.   It is outrageous for a defendant in a lawsuit to demand a change in the ethnicity of the judge.   There's no accusation of an actual legal conflict of interest,   because of course there is none.   But he sure is playing the race card - I can't be tried fairly by natural born American judge who's of Mexican parentage.   And recognizing that his minions will nod their heads and defend their martyr because they view the world in racialist terms.

I thought conservatives were the noble opponents of identity politics.  Judge us by the content of our characters  . . .   Yet more evidence that Trump's no conservative;  he projects his view of the world as a conflict between white and brown, because that's what his followers want to hear.

So, a black defendant in a civil rights trial facing a judge who is a member of the KKK...shouldn't demand a new judge? Really?

And we are the enemies of "identity" politics, which is why we don't want to see judges affiliated with racist organizations like the KKK and La Raza overseeing the judicial branch. He doesn't need to step down because he is Mexican, that's irrelevant...he needs to step down because of his affiilation to racist groups like La Raza.

Cut the crap.  No one here is blaming this Trump supporter for being accosted (although as one poster pointed out, the context of what led to the confrontation isn't irrelevant.)   But folks sure as hell are blaming Trump for setting the nasty, bullying, race-baiting, us-against-them tone of his campaign.  He's reaping what he's sown.   Sure, he's got free speech,  and he's decided to exercise his right by coming on as the national arsehole.   What's happened to a few Trump supporters is inexcusable, but it's hardly a surprise.

Trump can ask the judge to recuse himself.  Why doesn't he do that?

Because he has no basis in law for doing it, and he knows it.  Instead he wants to berate the judge's race in the press. And you dolts are falling for it.

Prove that the LaRaza lawyers association are akin to the KKK.  I've asked you to do this before, and you couldn't, and I'm sure you can't now.

There IS no linkage, yet you continue to make it.  You're as bad as Trump, slamming a judge and saying he can't be fair because his parents were Mexican.

How about that Taco Bowl, Mesaclone.  We know you love Hispanics.

Furthermore, despite our acute differences of opinion on all matters "Trump", I still consider Sink a good FRiend.

The simple truth is, if Trump was winning the case he'd be praising the judge as the "best ever". Trump just can't help himself with that mouth of his. If anyone is giving him resistance he has to attack them. And he does so in the most direct route he can think of at the moment without any real thought. And then his supporters are left "clarifying" what he "really" said in the face of the obvious... It sucks to be in his camp.

You agree with Trump's "Look at my African-American" and Trump's racist remarks about this judge?   Surely even you must cringe.

Yes, I cringed....but IMO, he was mocking the media...and people like you who swore he wasn't going to get 20 percent of the black vote.

....which incidentally, should cancel out 'your' entire #nevertrump entourage.      :patriot:

If he'd said "Look at my Italian-American" at someone, would you be upset or consider it racist?

At a recent White House function, a comedian turned to the president and "you my ni**er"...is that racist?
