Donald Trump Joins Rolling Thunder in DC for Memorial Day Event
by ALEX SWOYER  |  published on May 29, 2016

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump is scheduled to be in Washington, D.C., on Sunday to attend the Memorial Day event with Rolling Thunder.

“I am doing it in honor of the great bikers who have been totally supportive of my campaign, and now I want to be supportive of them,” Trump told Bloomberg Politics. “I look forward to it!”

“The bikers love Trump,” Trump touted previously on the campaign trail. “I’m not a huge biker. I have to be honest with you, okay? I always liked the limo better.”

The “Ride for Freedom” intends to raise awareness for American Prisoners of War and warriors who are currently Missing in Action, according to USA Today.

Fox just said a half million bikers will be there. It will take four hours for all to complete the twenty minute ride from Pentagon.

Trump is their keynote speaker.  Actual parade begins at noon.    :patriot:

Just watched Trump rant for several minutes-disorganized, rambling, the usual sound-bites. It was astounding to watch. He was all over the place-switching topics like he has adult ADD. He has quite a mess between his ears.

Trump did not disappoint- he referred to himself in the third person- said "I am winning" repeatedly until he realized it and corrected himself, and reiterated his unworkable plans to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US as well as his stance on starting a trade war.

I guess some people love him but those unfavorable ratings are pretty high.

Trump's rally style takes some getting used to, @austingirl

Be assured Trump always refers to his winning as our winning.... and his supporters know when he wins, we win.     But I do understand that his speaking style is not that of a politician's---for sure.   ^-^   Trump speaks to each person in the crowd---he does not lecture or preach-- and each person in the crowd responds as though they're in their living room listening to an familiar and good friend.  It is part of the bond between the two.

I think part of your reaction to him is you've not heard anything but sound bites and brief speeches from him.  I post links to his rallies in the TCG --- and they're still there for anyone who wants to watch a replay of a rally.  (Just sayin'  ^-^ )

But rest assured Trump is capable of giving a traditional "political" speech, when the moment calls for it.  IMHO, one of the best examples of this is his speech to AIPAC earlier this year.  It was a terrific speech and extraordinarily well-received.  So well, in fact, that anything with "Trump" on it sold out at the convention!     I've included a link to that speech below as a reminder.

My point is:  You may not like Trump's style .... and that's okay .... but, please, don't let that intrude on fully hearing his message.

None of Trump's economic policies will be enacted. His tax plan is too costly, he can't force companies to bring jobs back to the US, Congress will never approve his tariffs (they're illegal anyway), nor will they approve taxing oil companies by taking "profits" from oil that flows through pipelines.

It's all BS.  He surely knows that but his supporters believe it.

I think Trump may believe his own BS. Either he believes it , which reveals his lack of understanding of global economics, or he is being deceptive in his message to his supporters. Both options are destructive but I don't know which is worse. **nononono*

I  know you don't like Donald Trump, @austingirl but do you really believe he doesn't understand global economics?

Take a look at a this site:  http://www.trump.com/

And this one:  https://www.trumpinternationalrealty.com/

Why not educate yourself before you post?  It would add greatly to your credibility, if that matters to you.

Trump doesn't understand politics.  He does understand that he can make wild-ass promises, but he doesn't seem to realize he can't do anything on his own.  He needs Congress to approve any of what he wants done.  And with a likely Democrat Senate, his plans are dead in the water, unless he gives the Democrats what they want.  I suspect he'd do a lot of that.

Speaking for myself only, if any of my friends were in my living room talking like Trump, I'd make sure they either stay the night on the couch, or had someone else drive them home.

Forget this stuff about how he speaks differently from how "politicians" speak.  Every single person I know  speaks more rationally about politics than does Trump.  Heck, just about every single poster I've seen on this site communicates ideas better than he does.  And that includes his own supporters.

I  believe Trump does not understand global economics, international trade, the limits of the Presidency, or the Constitution. Building hotels and casinos either in the US or overseas, promoting one's own "brand," and hosting a reality TV show does not prepare one to be the leader of the free world.

I believe you're entitled to your opinion.  And I am entitled to mine:  I believe your post illustrates the sheer depth of your ignorance when it comes to global economics, international trade, the limits of the Presidency as weighed against Donald Trump's proposals and the Constitution.

But, carry on.
