Trump has done nothing for down-ticket Republicans, his presence has helped the liberal Republicans smash conservative challengers even in New York state.

Yep.  Even with Trump winning, not a single primary incumbent has lost.  Demonstrates that Trump has absolutely no coat tails.

A traveling circus with friendly media, leaving no campaign infrastructure behind. That might sound cost-effective but it is not a winning strategy after the primaries are over when the media will be extremely hostile. Also note that a lot of Republicans are now former Republicans and conservatives have long decided not to send money to the RNC, to give it to candidates they like instead.

Hes already shrugged off around 60 thousand hostile ads and every argument/smear they could come up with. He defeated 16 other very capable competitors with almost half a billion in funds for their campaigns while using roughly 10 percent of what it costs to run and a staff of less then 200 people. The media has been trying to sabotage him non-stop. Yet he won. He also just fund raised a lot of money for the RNC at the first event. Hes a draw.

I really don't think being the media's chosen primary candidate is a selling point, but his supporters seem to think it is awesome.

The RNC has already found it hard to raise money, now they have to support this deadbeat too. That will mean less money for Congressional candidates.
