AhlulBayt News Agency - One day after liberating Jabal Mazar in northern Palmyra (Tadmur), the Syrian Army’s “Tiger Forces” – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Liwaa Al-Fatemiyyoun (Afghani paramilitary) – advanced east towards the Mistadura Gas Fields.

The Tiger Force’s reemergence at the outskirts of the Mistadura Gas Fields was due in large part to the relentless air raids launched by the Russian Air Force in the east Homs countryside.

The Mistadura Gas Fields are strategically located at the northwestern perimeter of ‘Arak village; this part of the Homs Governorate is rich with natural gas wells that s stretch all the way to the Deir Ezzor Military Airport.

Similar to their oil trade, ISIS has benefited immensely from selling these gas reserves on the black market.

As long as ISIS remains in control of ‘Arak and Al-Sukhanah, they can transport their oil and gas reserves along makeshift roads. The goal for the Syrian Armed Forces is to seize the aforementioned villages and lift the one year long siege at Deir Ezzor City.
