Music Thread - Songs of Inspiration
« on: May 03, 2016, 12:08:58 am »
I think this would be a good thread to try out.

Perhaps posters should not "load up" the pages with a bunch of videos in one post, there will be plenty of time for that. If we load it up too much we get that message "space limited reached, embedded" or whatever it says.

I'm not too inspired today to post anything but I'm sure I'll be up to it at other times to do so! Well, maybe I can think of one.

I hope we can mainly emphasize Christianity, I do know, there are many other forms of inspirational music so I don't care to rule those out.

I know this is a Christmas song.  I'd never heard it until a few years ago....brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.  Plus Kathy Mattea.....what more can you say!

Well, good God, if we are doing songs for Christianity, we can pick just about any of Matthew West's awesomeness.

I'll go with this one:

How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

Thank You All!  No limit on what we can post, I guess I was saying, we might be a bit of spendthrifts on space.

Also, If someone drops a "Bomb" in here, by mistake of course, just send me a PM.

Will Do! This is a fine forum, it did not even occur to me that this could look like proselytizing or something.

I use to listen to a lot of "trucking radio" and WLOL, New Orleans had their hourly "song of inspiration" on their all night show and that left an impression. I think KVOO out of Tulsa may have had something similar. So, that is mainly what made me decide on a thread like this.

So, perhaps, nothing but the music!

Nice, fine video.

As Memorial Day approaches, on Memorial Day and the 4th, I use to catch some of these types of pieces on the Crooner Station, those stations that most notably play Sinatra and other similar singers or era pieces.

Slightly different, but still quite profound in its own way:

Lesser known, this one in particular might be on the corny side to some, from the '60s,  but they were trying.

Walter Brennan - Suppertime

www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqpROXVW_yc

Suppertime is a great song, Jim Reeves has a fine version, I don't know who released a version of it but what I do know, is Walter Brennan is known for the song "Old Rivers".

Porter Waggoner has a fine version of "Suppertime" too. I once heard "Suppertime" one Sunday afternoon on the radio and I can remember it, it made an impression from that very first time.

She released back cerca 1955; and again, others then did their renditions of a great song.
