Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, ex-First Lady and likely future presidential candidate threw out an odd legal suggestion to the National Press Club this week: a nationwide return to the double-nickel. According to Clinton, "The 55-mile speed limit really does lower gas usage. And wherever it can be required, and the people will accept it, we ought to do it..."

PA is run by a communist and we just expanded 70mph on major roads. I can't see anyone wanting this unenforceable law back.

Who really gives a darn about the speed limits?  In case anyone has been sleeping for the past decade; we are facing much more troubling issues.

This isn't going to save gas in a modern vehicle.  Mine is ten years old and it still gets peak mileage at 70mph.

Try driving from Boston to Washington D.C. at 55mph. It won't take forever; it will only seem that way.

This is the same control-freak mentality that pervades the precincts of wealthy urban elitist liberals, especially those who do not routinely drive anywhere. The only people who will be helped by turning a 7 1/2 hour trip into a 10-hour trip are the airlines, amphetamine manufacturers, and the State Police.
