My SIL brother is gay..has been with his partner for at least 20 years maybe longer, a good friend of mine is gay and has been with partner for years. I own a apartment complex..one renter is gay been with the same gay for 5 out of the 6 years he has rented from me.
Not monogamous in the Heterosexual sense.
Most of them have "Open" relationships, their "partners" are usually just the backup plan if they can't get any action somewhere else.
Ask them.
You are really broadbrushing the entire gay community. Most of the gays I know hate stuff like Folsom.
Because it is public, and therefore bad publicity for their movement. They don't mind the behavior, just the fact that these bozos are letting the word get out.
The gay friend of mine has a gun collection that would make most freepers envious and he is rock solid conservative. All the guys at the local gun range/facebook page etc know him well and count him as a friend.
This is sort of the flip side of the Ad Hominem fallacy. (still a fallacy) Because someone is good about this or that, they must be okay. My perspective is that if they want to be a "top" or a "bottom" then they have a screw loose somehow, regardless if they appear otherwise sane.
This is similar to the Body dysmorphic disorder in which someone can appear absolutely stone cold rational,
but want an arm or a leg chopped off. No, if you want that, you have a mental condition.
Are they capable of behaving rationally? Sure. Most @ueers are highly accomplished at whatever chosen field they pursue. They generally earn more than average, and are by most standards bright, intelligent and talented.
But they have a dangerous and unpredictable mental condition that makes them untrustworthy in positions where a normal rationality is an absolute necessity. They have predilections which are not normally advertised, of which
former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert is but one example.
The flamboyant, militant/freeky/wackjob gays you see are only a small fraction of the gay community. But like a squeeky wheel they get the most attention.
We generally see the "harmless", fun-loving, cheerful, sort because the media makes a point to make sure we see that sort. There are
a lot of other sorts that the media
do everything in their power to make sure we never notice.
