We must respect Islam and its various racist, sexist, anti-Semitic and anti-American beliefs. Lest we offend Muslims and make them fly planes into our buildings. And even once they did that, we must still avoid offending them.

That's why we buried Osama bin Laden with Islamic rites. And why we're protecting Muslim terrorists from contact with the one thing that Muslims hate more than America... American women.

The military judge presiding over the Sept. 11 war crimes proceedings at Guantánamo Bay says he will lift his order prohibiting female guards from having physical contact with the five defendants at the U.S. base in Cuba, attorneys involved in the case said Friday.

But Army Col. James Pohl also said he would keep the ban in place for six more months. That is because of what he calls “inappropriate” public criticism of his order by Defense Secretary Ash Carter and Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, during an October appearance before Congress.

Judicial spite. Always a reminder when a democracy is turning into an oligarchy.

Carter called the ban on women having contact with the defendants an “outrage” and “counter to the way we treat service members” in testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Walter Ruiz, the lawyer for defendant Mustafa al-Hawsawi, said he was disappointed that the judge intends to reverse his earlier decision. He said some defendants will refuse to meet with their attorneys or attend court sessions to avoid contact with unrelated females. “This issue is not about women, this issue is about legitimate religious and cultural sensitivities,” he said.

What about the legitimate religious and cultural sensitivities of white supremacists who don't want contact with black guards? Can we accommodate those too... or just Muslim bigotry?

Is there a special and unique Muslim exception for every rule we live by. We can force little girls to shower with adult men, but we can't expect 9/11 accomplices to be near women.

Post 9/11, media outlets ran horror stories about female interrogators in Gitmo. Those stories had as much reality as the paranoid fantasies of any Imam. But the same media that is so concerned about "slut-shaming" and "body-shaming" and all the other shamings had no problem providing a forum for the insane Muslim hatred of women.

Here's how this got started.

A military judge issued an order in January prohibiting female guards from transporting the defendants, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, after they refused to meet with defense lawyers and complained that any physical contact with unrelated women violated their Muslim beliefs.

Female guards sued over this accommodation of Muslim discrimination. They were quite unhappy over it.

During their visit, Ayotte and U.S. Senators Tim Scott, R-SC, and Shelley Moore Capito, R-WV, met with women guards at Guantanamo and discussed how this court order is negatively affecting operations, inhibiting their ability to compete successfully for promotion, and damaging morale.
    ..
“As the women guards at Guantanamo told us, they just want to do their jobs and they can’t believe that we are allowing terrorists who murdered almost 3,000 people to dictate how U.S. service members do their jobs — simply because they are women. That is an insult to every woman and man who puts their lives on the line to serve our country, and I hope the administration will speak out more forcefully for these women,” Ayotte said in a statement.

But our government continues accommodating Muslim bigots over Americans.

But a lawyer for inmate Abd al Hadi al Iraqi said lifting the temporary order would violate the U.S. Constitution and Supreme Court rulings on religious freedom.

Iraqi, who faces war crimes charges, says being touched by female guards violates his Muslim religious beliefs. Judge Navy Captain J.K. Waits issued the order in November.

Locking him up for Jihad also violates his Muslim religious beliefs. So does the existence of America. So let's get on with it and implement Islamic law to avoid violating his beliefs.
