Orlando woman plans to take her gun into Target bathrooms to protect herself from transgender people

After Target announced its transgender customers and employees can use store bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity, Orlando-based Liberty Counsel president Anita Staver said she would be taking her Glock .45 into Target's restrooms, saying the gun "identifies as my bodyguard."


CBS News reported earlier this month that the Liberty Counsel has drafted legislation to "protect those who cite religious beliefs for refusing to serve or employ gay or transgender people" in at least 20 states.

"It is only about being free to pursue your faith," says Mathew Staver, founder of the organization and Anita Staver's husband, to CBS News. "We have no interest in discriminating against anyone."

Target's policy was a reaction against the recently passed North Carolina law that stops transgender people from using bathrooms for the gender they identify with and blocks local municipalities from passing nondiscrimination laws. Since the company's announcement, conservative activists have launched a #BoycottTarget campaign, protested outside their local Targets, and as this Daily Commercial story details, planned to have a male conservative blogger "barge into the Mount Dora store Thursday and demand to use the women's restroom."

My .45 "identifies as my bodyguard" as well, but  I'm trying to figure out which FL statute would apply; 776.012 Use or threatened use of force in defense of person.— OR 776.013 Home protection; use or threatened use of deadly force; presumption of fear of death or great bodily harm.—  However, a public bathroom or bathroom stall isn't actually in one's home.

The statute further states;  A person who is attacked in his or her dwelling, residence, or vehicle has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and use or threaten to use force, including deadly force, if he or she uses or threatens to use force in accordance with s. 776.012(1) or (2) or s. 776.031(1) or (2).

I also believe that Target has a no firearms permitted policy, so how would that one play out??

This will never fly. How are you going to know someone's gay?  You gonna  ask them?

This will never fly. How are you going to know someone's gay?  You gonna  ask them?

It's not a matter of someone being gay.  It will be a matter of a man dressed in women's clothing entering a Women's restroom or a Woman in man's clothing entering the Men's restroom.  Gay men usually use the men's restroom right?? Lesbians use the 'Women's room. The issue is now that the opposite sex wants to use their confusion with gender identity as carte blanche to enter and use whatever bathroom they 'identify' with.
