I guess everyone is going to join us here.  I mean, who doesn't want to be a Texan?  :lotsosmileys:

When I first left Houston I moved to Arkansas. When I got pregnant I moved back to Texas and had my first daughter in Houston. I moved back to Arkansas got pregnant again and moved back to Texas and had my second daughter in Henderson.  I did not go back to Arkansas!

I told my daughters that I swam to Texas to spawn and they will be grateful when Texas secedes that they are birthright citizens of Texas!

Hi y'all.
Sitting on the back porch in Sugar Land, drinking a Shiner.

I was thinking about a story a guy on the rodeo circuit told me.
I don't know if it's true or not, but the character of this man lead me to believe it could be true.
Here goes:

Our friend was coming back for Mexico and came up to the Rio Grande.
He said "Just to see what it's like, y'all let me out. I'm going to swim across and you can pick me up on the other side".
He got across, where he was met by border patrol, who told him he was under arrest for illegal entry into the United States.
He said, "Come on fellas, I am a citizen, I was just goofing off".
They said, they knew that. They told him he would have to come back in through the check point.
"No problem" he said, "My friends should be here any minute."
The agents smiled and said, "No,I don't think so" and pointed to the river.
He swam back to Mexico.
True or not, it's a good story.
It got a laugh out of me.

Tarrant County here. Several NTX freepers near me. We sometimes meet for dinner, drinks, etc. If you want to join us at our next meet-up, let me know.

That would be nice.  Let me/us know when one is coming up and anyone interested can PM you.

Tarrant here, too.  Ping me, if you will, for the next meet-up.  I'm increasingly reclusive and probably won't come, but who knows?

I'll go through this thread this weekend and see if I can figure out where everyone is and where would be the most central place to meet.  Might need to be several spots if we're just too far apart.

OK, I went through the Texas Welcome thread and made a list of everyone who responded to that thread, including the Louisianian and Floridian.

I added home places to those who had indicated that in the thread and plotted them on a Texas map.

Looks like somewhere SE of Waco, maybe along 35, would be the best place to meet.

@DrewsDad had suggested Walberg and that would be maybe the best place to meet, except for those in LA and Midland.  Midland isn't really close to anything except for Odessa.

I know there are other Texans on the board and I'll add them as I can.

Oh, and the purple stars mean it's just a very rough approximation of where they are and the red ones are a little more defined.

It may be more convenient for others in Central Texas to meet south of Austin.  I guess we can start a polling thread (if someone knows how to do that).

So, I'm glad to see so many Texans on this board.

Reminds me of a simple joke that fits so many of my peeps:

A Texan walks into a bar.

The bartender says, " You got any ID?"

The Texan says, "About what?"

I love it here and, God willing, will never live anywhere else.

Welcome to all and thanks to all for welcoming me.

Well thanks, @Sanguine! I've been enjoying it.

I live down in Corpus Christi. Actually on N. Padre Island (as opposed to S. Padre). We've been here since 2001 or so.

Before that we were in Conroe. All our kin is from there and surround. Most of our Texas heritage is from the Old Waverly/Coldspring area.

 Actually on N. Padre Island . . .

My favorite place to visit.  At least once a year I head down that way to spend a few days recharging.

My mother lives in my & my brothers place in Aransas Pass.  I visit her several times a year, but don't hit the Island on those trips.

We were heading to the Gristmill restaurant (in Gruene) for lunch today, but traffic was so bad we didn't have time before our event.

The event ended too soon to stick around for dinner.

We still need to get the CenTex "Briefers" together sometime.

If y'all get together, I'd make the trip from Sugar Land, if it isn't on a Wednesday, or something like that.
We like to try to go to the Grist Mill Before a show at Gruene Hall when we can.
