"Look, America’s going to be fine."

Lifelong Democrat Tom Hanks is speaking more sense than some of his GOP counterparts, publicly stating "America's going to be fine" if Donald Trump were to get the nomination.

Promoting his new movie A Hologram for the King on CBS Thursday, the Oscar winner weighed in on the campaign, giving an arguably more balanced answer than the GOP establishment.

"Look, America’s going to be fine," said Hanks. "We’re the greatest, most resilient nation in the history of all of civilization. We’ll be fine. We’ve worked ourselves out of holes many, many times over and over again."

"I have no powers of clairvoyance like you geniuses in the news media," Hanks added. "I’m not saying he’s going to be president of the United States… What I’m saying is we are going to have the most hilarious September, October and first week of November in a very long time. And you people [the media] are going to be exhausted."

Responding to those who say Donald Trump somehow brought American politics down to a whole new level, Hanks said that sentiment doesn't really add up in light of history.

"I'm reading right now William Manchester's book The Glory and the Dream," Hanks said. "It's about American history from 1932 to 1952. This election now has nothing has nothing on the 1948 election for president.

It has nothing on the 1952 election for president. It’s just the same thing over and over and over. Except this time, the president of the junior chamber of commerce looks like he could have 1,100 delegates."

Tom Hanks has been a Democrat his entire career and is currently supporting Hillary for president.
