AP: Ted Cruz now mathematically eliminated from clinching GOP nomination before convention
Posted 9:03 PM, April 19, 2016, by Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump is now the only Republican candidate with any chance of clinching the nomination before the convention.

Ted Cruz was mathematically eliminated Tuesday after Trump’s big win in the New York primary.

Trump won at least 89 of the 95 delegates at stake. John Kasich won at least three and Cruz was in danger of being shut out.

There aren’t enough delegates left in future contests for either Cruz or Kasich to reach the 1,237 delegates needed to win the GOP nomination. Their only hope is to block Trump and force a contested convention.

The AP delegate count:

Trump: 845.

Cruz: 559.

Kasich: 147.

He is eliminated only on the first ballot. However, if Trump doesn't get to 1237, the field resets. Just like a football team getting to the 10 on 4th down. Close is still not scoring.

Cruz needs 102% of the remaining votes.

The establishment could make that happen with a phone call or two, if they want to.  I think Cruz is at a crisis point in his campaign.

Cruz needs 102% of the remaining votes.

He needs to accumulate 1237 delegates at the convention and whether it be on the first ballot or the 21st ballot he will get them!

I have no doubt that Cruz will be our nominee.  He will crush Hillary and he will be the next POTUS!   :patriot: :patriot:

Right now the prime directive for Cruz is to not slow down and keep fighting for every delegate he can get to stop Trump. The convention will settle matters later, but lets first get there.
