A multi-million dollar lawsuit filed Monday by GOP consultant Cheri Jacobus claims that Donald Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandoski told Jacobus the campaign could do whatever it wanted with Fox News and said the network was on their side.
The core of the lawsuit is not about Fox News but involves Jacobus’ claim that Trump and Lewandowski lied about her desire for a job on the campaign. Specifically, she says she took two meetings with Lewandowski after someone working for the campaign reached out to her. However, after the second meeting Jacobus says she decided Lewandowski would be too difficult to work with and ended the discussions.
That’s different from how Lewandowski and Trump would portray the situation. For instance, Trump claimed Jacobus “begged us” for a job:

An interesting side story is the second meeting between Jacobus and Lewandowski in which she described his behavior as “agitated and rude” and says he bragged about yelling at Fox host Megyn Kelly. That’s when Lewandowski apparently claimed Trump had a relationship with Roger Ailes which gave them freedom to do whatever they wanted with Fox News:

For its part, Fox is not denying Ailes sent an email to Trump but claims it was not an offer to help the candidate with coverage on the network:
Whatever carte blanche Lewandowski may have though the campaign had with Ailes seems to have hit a wall in late January when Ailes himself put out a statement taunting Trump. It read, “We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president. A nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.”
