Matthew 23:13-15
Trump could always ask to be forgiven for his false proclamations of faith, but we know he doesn't think he needs to.
Like Obama and most others who contend for the presidency, Trump knows it plays well with the voting masses if he says he's a Christian or, at least, a churchgoing man. So it should be enough, those folks
seem to think (I'm not presuming to know what's Trump's mind or heart), that they
said they were Christians.
I will not judge whether or not any such politician truly has repented. God knows. But I assume there's some reason Jesus said, after warning not to judge lest we be judged, "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; but the bad tree bears bad fruit. ... So then,
you will know them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven." Matt. 7:15-17, 20-21.
It doesn't matter if their theology is a whole bubble off anything remotely close to orthodoxy. They said it, went to church a couple of times, ate the cracker, more or less mentioned a book in the Bible ... come on, now, people!
