Geraldo Rivera blasts Ted Cruz for ‘stinking anti-Semitic’ comments
By Victor Morton - The Washington Times - Thursday, April 7, 2016

Geraldo Rivera said Thursday night that Sen. Ted Cruz's attack on "New York values" is actually a form of anti-Semitism.

In an appearance on Fox News Channel's "O'Reilly Factor," Mr. Rivera, also a Fox News correspondent, said that Mr. Cruz's explanation that he meant to attack a certain sort of liberalism didn't hold water because ""He could have very easily said that."

Mr. Rivera called the "New York values" comment an example of "stinking anti-Semitic implications" pandering to Iowa voters, the nominal audience for the debate during which Mr. Cruz made the remarks about real-estate tycoon Donald Trump.

"He also voted against Hurricane Sandy relief. He also voted against compensation for 9/11 victims. This is a man whose interests are absolutely antithetical to New York," said Mr. Rivera, who was born in Brooklyn.

An incredulous Mr. O'Reilly said he doesn't see attacking New Yorkers as anti-Semitic and cited Mr. Cruz's explanation, which the candidate reiterated Thursday, about liberal politicians such as Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Mr. Cruz is trailing badly in New York, placing third in polling behind not only the New Yorker Mr. Trump, but also Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Anti-semitic... the worst possible accusation... even worse than racis or homophobic...

Rivera's the guy who thinks Hamas will stop attacking Jews if Israel ends the occupation.   Geraldo is no friend of Jews.
Roy Moore's "spiritual warfare" is driving past a junior high without stopping.

The implicit assumption that all Jews are liberals is what I (as a Jewish conservative) find insulting.

And you know what "Geraldo Rivera" is code for? Shoddy journalism.

Quote
1. Rivera’s 1986 special broadcast, “The Mystery of Al Capone’s Vaults,” was one of the most hyped TV events in history — and one of the biggest busts. In the two-hour special, Rivera finally opened the famous gangster’s secret vault, but instead of finding Capone’s money or any bodies, it contained only a couple of empty bottles and dirt. The failed stunt became a pop culture landmark, and “Al Capone’s vault” is now synonymous for a heavily hyped event that amounts to absolutely nothing.

2. Rivera was covering the controversial trial of Casey Anthony, a woman suspected of killing her daughter Caylee, when he made headlines of his own in 2011. Referencing a tattoo Anthony got in the weeks after her daughter died that said “bella vita,” Rivera said on Fox, “I think it will end the prosecution case with a bang, so to speak, to show that this was a selfish, narcissistic, self-involved slut.”

3. In 2003, Rivera was traveling with the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army in Iraq as a war correspondent for Fox News and ended up making a huge tactical error — he drew a map in the sand during a live broadcast pinpointing his exact location and revealing the time and details of an upcoming operation. Although it had been originally thought Rivera would be expelled from the country for giving away sensitive, classified information, a deal was ultimately reached allowing him to leave on his own.

4. That wasn’t the first time Rivera caused a commotion on the battlefield — in Afghanistan in 2001, he described on air an incident of friendly fire, claiming he had been on the scene. Rivera said he walked over “what I consider hallowed ground today” and had said the Lord’s Prayer on the land where three Americans soldiers had died the previous day. But the Baltimore Sun later reported that Rivera was actually 300 miles from the site he described. Rivera blamed his mistake on the “fog of war” and said he had confused the event near Kandahar with one where he actually was in Tora Bora — but the Tora Bora incident occurred three days after Rivera’s report.

5. In 2005, Rivera traveled to New Orleans to cover the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. But he made headlines after a New York Times report alleged he had “nudged” an Air Force rescue worker out of the way so he could be filmed helping lift an older woman in a wheelchair to safety — a charge Rivera vigorously denied. The Times did not publish a correction, but later added a note saying, “The Times acknowledges that no nudge was visible on the broadcast.”

They are in New York.

Mostly, but not exclusively. Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn may dress in black, but they are definitely not liberals. Some of my family members live in New Jersey, and at least a few are Republicans.

So, you want to defend the message?  Is that the point of your comment, or are you just trashing the commenters here?

Because the message this professional loser is selling is a concerted effort by Leftists like him to smear Cruz. NY values means the degeneracy of the NYC left. Funny how nothing more than that was talked about until yesterday when 2 separate Leftist floated this exact same talking point out. Jeffery Toobin and Gerry Rivers. Not a coincidence and BTW two people known to circulate with Trump.

I'd like to know if you agree with Ted Cruz voting to deny compensation benefits for 9/11 victims and Hurricane Sandy.

Let's try to talk a little substance.  You can go back later to scanning the Internet for every negative article and photo on people you don't agree with.

Try to stay on topic:  Geraldo's assertion that Cruz is "anti-Semetic" because of his ideological opposition to Federal handouts.

Geraldo is obviously a globalist tool... he certainly doesn't get the pulpit he has because of talent...

I am totally 100% for Ted voting against compensation for 9/11 victims because for one, they were not victims, the were the first responders. Do you know how many firefighters and police lose their lives during the average year? Should the federal govt' be dolling out cash for them too? Some of them are volunteers without any pay in most areas of the country. It is a dangerous job and they get great compensation and retirement packages in NYC for doing that already. On top of that look at how shoddy our returning Vets get treated and they ARE OUR RESPONSIBILITY as a country. Let's spend the money there and not dump money into NYC to they can use their shrinking cashflow for never ending welfare schemes.

Secondly Ted wasn't elected until 2012, 11 years after 9/11 and we are still throwing more money in to NYC over this? Outrageous. Is there any point where it stops? I guess there would have been more money for first responders if Trump didn't steal some of the money for redevelopment by claiming he was a small business and taking funds for a property that wasn't damaged.

As for Hurricane Sandy, there is something called HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE. Why the hell am I paying for these peoples home repairs through higher insurance premiums AND through higher taxes now? Ridiculous.

Well in all fairness you don't need talent to be on the pulpit they call the boobtube.  If that were true we wouldn't be stuck with the Rump.

I remember FDNY first responders  in pitched physical conflict with the NYPD and Feds who were trying to seal off a highly toxic and dangerous WTC location for the days, weeks and months after the buildings fell.    The firefighters damn near rioted in order to "recover" their long-gone bretheren against the explicit orders of the NYPD, FBI, EPA and every other agency tasked to secure and clean up that toxic site.   Now they're experiencing health issues -  not all of which can be shown to be 9/11 related - and want Federal $$$.

Same thing with Hurricane Sandy.  These FEMA payouts have always been rife with corruption.

That is all these events are anymore. Ways to hide large sums of money for other insane purposes inside a blanket that is above reproach.
