And this has nothing to do with Republicans that support him, which still sit at around 37%. The story that started this thread asked the question, If he had the highest number of delegates but not the needed number should he be the nominee, and that number came back at the "nearly 50%" number.    The story no where near implies that he went from 37% to now 50%. That would be ludicrous to think that.

I'd also add that if the thing you described so aptly had even a slim majority nationally (he doesn't even come close) it might not translate into an electoral college win.  It didn't for Gore in 2000.

What I'm seeing is that negative characterizations of one particular GOP Presidential candidate is now highly discouraged on this forum.

It's gone from no questioning the actions of those posters that support one particular candidate to no questioning of the generic supporter of one particular candidate to no questioning of the candidate himself.

I say that's out of line.
