Texas Lobbyist and Ted Cruz Operative Admits
Origin of Campaign To Attack Donald Trump’s Wife…

Posted on March 25, 2016   by sundance

In the current campaign war between the Ted Cruz and Donald Trump camps there have been multiple accusations of targeting spouses.  However, a video from early March clearly shows the Ted Cruz campaign origination to target Donald Trump’s wife Melania.

On Tuesday March 8th, Ted Cruz operative Andrea McWilliams, a Texas-based lobbyist, told Fox anchor Neil Cavuto that in light of former first lady Nancy Reagan’s death this week, “we should be looking at the first lady candidates, instead of just talking about the men.

Cruz certainly surrounds himself with charming surrogates.

As I pointed out in another thread, Andrea McWilliams doesn't work for Cruz, isn't an official spokesperson or surrogate, nor can I find her ever doing anything official for the campaign. She is  a standard go-to person on news programs for political opinion. Her bio says she currently works for Paul Ryan.

Also, the comment she made doesn't match the title. She just said 'we should be looking at the wives'... It doesn't indicate anything of an actual origin of the smear nor anything about a specific wife or canidate.

The origin of the smear is already known and admits to it- Liz Mair. She also said the Cruz camp had nothing to do with it.

If you want to take some generic statement is somehow the 'origin' of this, then the first attack on wives in this campaign came from Trump calling Jeb's wife an "Illegal Mexican"- http://www.politicususa.com/2015/07/06/republicans-meltdown-donald-trump-calls-jeb-bushs-wife-illegal-mexican.html

Did you watch the video?  After the first part of her remark - "we should be looking at the wives"...

...she went on to say, “If Donald trump is elected, Mrs. Trump will be the first first lady that has ever posed nude; the first first lady that’s the third wife [of the president]; and the first foreign-born first lady in this century.” She said, “by contrast,” Cruz’s wife Heidi would be “the first pro-life first lady."

As far as someone working for Paul Ryan, that goes on television to speak for the Ted Cruz campaign....that's a whole other topic.

That still doesn't say she is the origin of the attack, she is just some unaffiliated, supposed supporter commenting on something many has commented on since Trump signed up. I can find internet memes saying this going back since Trump signed up. She just repeated a common theme. At that, much of the internet buzz around this that has been going on for a long time, is far, far harsher because there are more graphic pictures (and supposedly a couple of Cinemax worthy movies- but I haven't checked the validity of that claim) going around.

Do you have any thing to back up the claim that she works for Cruz and/or head anything to do with this ad?  The video doesn't have either.

She doesn't have to be "official".  Simply find and follow the money trail from this millionaire lobbyist--starting with Cruz's Senate campaign.

They don't care about the truth.  Trashy Tabloid Trump and his Donald Ducklings want to lie and smear their way to the top.

As for Melania, she was paid to make those photos public.  If Revolving Wife-Getter Donald wanted to upgrade to a porn star, that's his choice.

This could have been put to bed...no pun intended...right from the beginning, had Ted Cruz taken the opportunity to appear magnanimous.

He should have condemned the ad from said PAC...and he should have immediately apologized to Melania Trump and Donald.

It may have also bought him some sympathy support during the coming, very public, marital exam.

Not difficult.

In this election cycle, she gave to Huckabee, not Cruz.
No donations listed for 2015.

You have to back all the way to 2014, when she donated to both Texas Senators in the general election.

However, when Cruz ran against a Primary challenger in 2012, she appeared to be strongly supporting his opponent- David Dewhurst.

That doesn't exactly scream, as implied, she works now for Cruz or is somehow an operative now, official or unofficial.

LOL!!! Cruz had nothing to do with the ad.

The real reason Trump lashed out in retaliation was that he wanted to change the subject from his blowout loss in Utah, coming in third.

Trump doesn't care about Heidi Cruz or Melania or any woman. He uses women the way he uses everybody else in his world, to advance his own megalomania.

There is simply no arguing facts against the Trumpette narrative.

This is a big stretch. This woman is as connected to the Cruz campaign as I am. She is just a supporter.

Does anyone actually Google peoples names before they write articles about them? I guess that would ruin the agenda they are trying to sell.

He did condemn the ad right off the bat (everyone ignores it).  Rather strongly too.
He had zero reason to apologize for it any more than  I expect you to apologize for something Trump does.

Ted Cruz has DENOUNCED the ad, and said spouses are OFF LIMITS!

I agree.  But knowing a story was about to break severely tarnishing his sainthood Cruz became desperate and chose to set Trump up as a diversion and scapegoat.

If Cruz had only chosen to use his powers for good, he could have been a contender.

I assume you overlooked that the post right above this, I linked to where Cruz did denounce the ad rather strongly as everyone said he should have?

Cruz' condemnation date on link is 3/24/2016.

The photos from the GQ shoot were splashed all over Utah as their "Friday Night Surprise"...on the 18th.   SIX FULL DAYS before the 'condemnation'.

You have to do better than this, AbaraXas!

The fact that you say she works for Paul Ryan is even worse!  Why is a Paul Ryan employee going on television presuming to speak for the Ted Cruz campaign?  What conclusions could be drawn by that?

Did the establishment already own Cruz at that point?  Is that where the Melania attack originated from - the GOPe?

The whole point - which has been said over and over - was NOT that it's a nude picture of Melania which is already all over the internet - the point is that the message superimposed on the photo says to vote for Ted Cruz if you don't want Melania to be your first lady.

Oh yeah, Ted didn't know anything about it.

Then, why didn't he come out immediately and DENOUNCE the ad as tacky and inappropriate?  You know, DENOUNCE?

Wow.  The paranoia is strong.
