Lindsey Graham says the Republicans 'probably will' lose the White House race in 2016 and tells Trump and Cruz to 'knock it off' as they war on Twitter over their wives

Sen. Lindsey Graham - who is now tepidly supporting Sen. Ted Cruz - said this morning he thinks the GOP is likely to lose the election
He said with Cruz, who he's often criticized, at least the race would be competitive
Graham dressed down Cruz and Donald Trump for engaging in a Twitter war over their wives - 'You're behaving like you're on a reality TV show'

One week ago, Sen. Lindsey Graham held his nose and said he would start fundraising for his colleague, Sen. Ted Cruz – a man he's often criticized – who he viewed as the best person to stop the surging Donald Trump.

But that didn't stop him from setting off a series of truth bombs this morning while doing a tour of morning TV.

For one, Graham didn't have high hopes that any Republican could win the White House in 2016.

'We can lose in 016, and we probably will,' Graham said on Morning Joe, suggesting that with Cruz at least the race is competitive.

Graham was actually pretty funny on TV this morning.    And he didn't make anything about him. He made it about Trump and Cruz and how Trump is an embarrassment.  He doesn't really like Cruz, and admitted both men would probably lose to Hillary, but at least Cruz could help protect the Senate and the House.

Yet he was very highly regarded when he served as a House Manager, of the Clinton Impeachment effort (fiasco).

Funny how times change. From hero, to goat.

Should the nomination go to Cruz, he will be destroyed by a democrat. He holds a "no exception" anti-abortion position, which is only held by 22 percent of those polled by Gallup.

IOW that narrow but deep position, needed to gain GOP nominations, then lose general elections.

If women get raped they do not want a President that would make it illegal for them to get an abortion.

Highly doubt that.  Whatever negatives Cruz has, they are orders of magnitude less than Trump's negatives.

Oh really. Roe v Wade is the hot button issue this election? Nice try.

What I stated in my comments surely will be, should Cruz become the nominee.

I'm not into some of Cruz's social issues, but what exactly do you think he can do about making abortion illegal?
It's the Supreme Court nominations!

He will not be in a position to do anything, for he will lose the general election. His position that abortion should be illegal, no exceptions, will prevent him from winning the office.

The "no exceptions" position is supported by just 22% of those polled, according to Gallup.

Hillary and her surrogates will be screaming high and low, about how extreme Cruz is. Because he is.

That has been my objection to him, or others like him, from the beginning.

I'm not sure Cruz could win either even though polls show he can beat Hillary.  But then almost all polls show Hillary beating Trump, so who knows?  I know Cruz opposes public funding of abortions and a ban on partial-birth abortions as one of his policy issues.  And I agree it won't help him in a GE.  As president though, I'm not sure he could do much if anything about the issue.
