Cruz Urged To Apologize for Attacks Against McConnell
« on: March 16, 2016, 11:19:33 am »
I hope Cruz doesn't cave.  Apologizing to McConnell would be agreeing to join the cartel and going against what he stands for.  Cruz told the TRUTH about McConnell and called him a liar because he IS.  He also pointed out that because of McConnell's pandering to the left, there is no difference in party in the Senate.  Orin Hatch went on to say that Cruz needed to admit he was wrong!  He wasn't wrong.  Cruz is right. MITCH MCCONNELL IS A LIAR and Hatch is just as despicable!

Ted Cruz urged to apologize for attacks against Mitch McConnell

Washington (CNN)Senior Senate Republicans are calling on Sen. Ted Cruz to rebuild his strained relationships with his colleagues and apologize to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell before the party establishment considers consolidating behind his presidential bid.

Cruz has increasingly called for Republicans to unify behind his candidacy in order to take down front-runner Donald Trump. But in interviews Tuesday with CNN, it's clear Cruz's fellow GOP senators are not willing to do that, at least not yet.

Republican senators said that Cruz must return to Capitol Hill and make the case directly to his colleagues to help ease long-festering tensions. And a large number of Republicans said the fence-mending starts with this: Apologizing to McConnell for calling him a liar last year on the floor of the Senate.

That message -- to smooth things over with Senate Republicans in a private session -- was personally delivered by fellow Texan and McConnell's chief deputy, Sen. John Cornyn, who spoke with Cruz by phone after the candidate won their home state's primary earlier this month.

"I actually made that suggestion to him when I talked to him last," Cornyn said when asked if he thought Cruz should apologize for his McConnell remarks. (A spokesman later said that Cornyn did not seek an apology but urged Cruz to speak directly to the Senate GOP Conference.)

Others had similar suggestions for Cruz.

"I think he's got some bridges to build here," said Sen. John Thune, the No. 3 Senate Republican. "I think it would be helpful obviously for him -- if he thinks he is going to be the guy or wants to be the guy -- to come back here to mend some of those fences that he tore down when he was here."

"That was not proper as you know, and I raised hell about it," Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the longest-serving Senate Republican, said of Cruz's criticism of McConnell. "I'm a great believer of repentance and changing, and I think there's a gradual change there that I'm noticing, which is good."

Hatch also had this to say of Cruz: "It's always helpful when you admit you're wrong."

How far Cruz is willing to go to win back his colleagues remains to be seen.

Jeff Roe, Cruz's campaign manager, signaled that the Texas senator was unlikely to begin wooing his colleagues.

"It's not like we have some phone tree of U.S. senators to endorse," Roe said. "We never built our campaign that way."

I wonder what Cruz will do?  Probably something along the lines of I'm sorry I called him a liar on the floor of the Senate.

Mending fences is not quite the same thing as merely apologizing.  Cruz definitely needs to start mending fences and building bridges because as president he will need to have Congress work with him, not against him.

Cruz needs to remain strong and continue to push back against the cartel.  Now is not the time to cave; he caves now and his word means absolutely nothing. The establishment will have won and Cruz will simply be their puppet.  Not at all why I support Cruz and not at all what Cruz stands for. If Cruz remains strong and doesn't pander to the RINO's he will be a strong leader and I believe others will fall in line.  We have Senators like Lee, Paul, Sessions, etc., that will back him. The House most definitely will be behind him. Compromising conservative values and principles and sidestepping the Constitution is what got the GOP to where it is today. The way I see it the ball is in Ted's court.  If they don't want Trump then they are going to have to play ball with Ted; if anything McConnell should not only apologize to Cruz, but most importantly McConnell needs to apologize to the American people!  The Kingmakers have two choices right now; Trump or Cruz.  With Cruz they will accept a 'silent' revolt. With Cruz they know where he stands.  With Trump they are taking a gamble as he has proven to be rather unpredictable. One thing is for sure, Trump wins it out right or has the most votes and they try to put someone else in... the revolt may not be so silent.

If Cruz is seated in the oval office, he will have "We the People" behind him.  He is an outsider. Now, the kingmakers can either play ball, or they will be voted out...some have already threatened to leave.  I don't know about you, but I don't see McCain leaving the Senate as any great loss whatsoever...in fact he'd be doing the GOP and the American people a favor.

Cruz needs to tell McConnell, that it's going to either be him or Trump, and deal with it. Step up to the plate and work together, if you can kowtow to Obama, then you can figure out a way to get along with us.
The Republic is lost.
