Fascist is a term, along with racist, that liberals fling at anyone that doesn't march in lock-step with them.  I find it disturbing that the terms are flung about so prolifically here.  All day....everyday....

Yet a Rubio senior adviser says he'd vote for a true fascist in Stalin over Trump, and it's silence from the Trump Temper Tantrum GOProgs (TTTs).

Max Boot would literally would vote for a genocidal fascist over Trump, yet it's the Trump supporters who are deranged?   :tongue2: :silly:

Trump has created a cult and looks more and more like Hitler every day.

Is Jazzhead worthy of any attention or credibility, in view of his saying he would vote for Hillary Clinton?

A glib opinion piece doesn't deserve any insightful response.

Meanwhile you're voting for HRC and Max Boot is voting for Stalin, and it's Trump who is the fascist?   :silly:

I have no intention of voting for Hillary Clinton.  Only if the GOP nominates a greater evil.  I am sick and tired of those who lack the moral courage to oppose evil.

Enough said.

I counted five black folk, right up front there with raised hands. What do you suppose they're doing at a KKK rally? Sorry, I meant Nazi rally? My bad, I meant white supremacist rally?

After a court-ordered recount, I found six black Trump supporters right up front.

Before this thread gets locked, and the way it’s going I don’t think that will be too long from now, I will give my 2-cents.

First, I’m not calling anyone a fascist. No matter who we nominate now or in the future, we ALL need to stay vigilant and be willing to hold them accountable and remind them who they serve  - so that they never go down that dark path.  And we need to be smart enough to recognize the birth of fascism when we see it.   And we already did see it and I bet none of you recognized it.  And it involved your favorite candidate.

What am I talking about?   Look back at the first FOX debate. Every candidate raising their hand, swearing allegiance to “The Party”.   As innocent and non-threatening as that pledge may seem, it is the first baby-step toward fascism.   Pledge to a Principle, not to a Party. Pledge to the preservation of the Constitution not to a Party. Pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor as our Founders did, not to a Party.

Pledging to a Party is 1935 Nuremberg 2.0.    We need to be willing to stands up and say we are not supporting anyone who violates our principles, and that should go for Joe the Plumber or a candidate for the highest office in the land.
A nation that turns away from prayer will ultimately find itself in desperate need of it. :Jonathan Cahn

* Some on the left would also claim Cruz is a Nazi, a KKK, etc.

So don't get too comfy with that mentality of criticizing of Trump.

We need Happy to post a dictionary definition.

IS Trump a Fascist?  - No.

Could he behave in a manner indistinguishable from a Fascist if elected?  - Yes. The Worm has eroded the protections against such behavior so much in a scant 7 years that ANY future president could probably get away with such behavior.

Instead of ignorantly throwing around provocative labels, which do NOT withstand scrutiny, people would be better served by studying what terms like fascist, nazi, socialist, communist, authoritarian, populist, nativist etc. really mean in history.

But to expect that would suggest the site is on a continued upward trajectory, which is the opposite of the actual case. Case in point, the past few weeks.

That was as stupid a statement I've ever heard made by a political adviser. No wonder there are reports that Rubio's team is advising him to drop out prior to the Florida primary. If he loses his home state his political career is in jeopardy.

So Boot would vote for the 2d or third greatest mass murderer in history over Donald Trump? Says all you need to know about TDS and the current state of the GOP.

Fascism is not a personality trait. It's a political and economic philosophy. If the writer wants to opine that Trump might be behaving in a  dictatorial fashion or that his personality reminds one of Il Duce, that's one thing. But it's not fascism.

Another take: Gianna Riotta, "I Know Fascists; Donald Trump Is No Fascist," from The Atlantic (by an Italian leftist).  Excerpt:

Not sure that I agree.  Fascists are narcissists

http://www.mentalhealth.com/home/dx/narcissisticpersonality.html
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Donald Trump is not a fascist.  He certain uses many of the same rhetorical strategies that fascists in the past have used, and has a similar "respect" for his audience.  But that's just a surface comparison and doesn't really prove anything much other than that Trump can be a good public speaker - a rhetorician - because Hitler, for all that he was an evil SOB, was a gifted public speaker.

And Trump is missing most of the other trappings the fascists loved, like having a military-style uniformed personal guard and a group of uniformed thugs to do his dirty work (the brown shirts).  And so far his policies are largely progressive, with the exception of his anti-immigrant idiocy.
