American citizens are economically hurting, fear the winds blowing from the Middle East, and want to end the inbred corruption of the political class. Americans want a new leader, a leader for these times---a leader from outside the bubble of Washington, DC with the kind of acumen and global experience to lead this nation away from the abyss. Yet with a sprinkle of conservative fairy dust---sanctimony, judgment and hubris---their concerns are flicked off like lint from a lapel.
What the most vocal conservatives promote actually leaves a sizable majority of American citizens preferring to spit on a conservative than vote for one.
I do not want to change what you believe. I am asking you to tone it down---leave some of it at home.
We need to fight a political fight---not a religious one. Give us a damn chance to win. Please.
See, the thing is, we don't believe he's the best choice for the economy, either. Being President is different than being a CEO. For one thing, when times are bad... you can't fire the ordinary American and escort them out of the country.
And secondly, the President isn't in control of the economy, nor can he hire anyone except into Federal service. He has to work with Congress to have them write legislation that will either create/remove laws to enable business to thrive. I don't see him doing that. He's very clear about his leadership style, which is that he tells people to do something... and they do it. Which will fail in the halls of government.
Thirdly, a President is supposed to represent all Americans, not just a segment. (Obama's a perfect example of a failure in this.) And Trump's big schtick is, in essence, revenge for the last 8 years. Again, this is just another Obama in my view (Obama was the left getting revenge for the Bush years). It wasn't right with Obama and I'm not going to be a hypocrite and allow it for us.
