Christie Deeply Insulted by Rubio Voicemail

Instead, Christie, 53, took the message to be patronizing and deeply disrespectful, and wanted to know why 44-year-old Rubio would be telling him about his future, and he two politicians never held a direct conversation.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was deeply insulted by a voicemail message left from Marco Rubio after he'd dropped his bid for the GOP presidential nomination, according to sources close to the state leader whose Friday endorsement of Donald Trump shook up the party.

Christie came out strong against the Florida senator, attacking him before and during a party debate by calling him shallow and scripted, reports The New York Times. However, Christie lost the Granite State after a pro-Rubio group, Conservative Solutions, released advertising bashing Christie as being President Barack Obama's "favorite Republican" and attacked him for his stances on Common Core and Obamacare.

After the spots aired, The Washington Post declared that Rubio's campaign was "running the most traditional negative campaign in New Hampshire," but many pundits said the ads also led to Christie losing in a state where he'd campaigned .

And after losing the race, the call came from Rubio.

In his voicemail, the junior Florida senator sought Christie's support and assured him that he still had a bright future in public service — and Christie didn't appreciate the words, sources close to the governor said.

Instead, Christie, 53, took the message to be patronizing and deeply disrespectful, and wanted to know why 44-year-old Rubio would be telling him about his future, and he two politicians never held a direct conversation.

But Trump was more persistent, reports The Times. He had been calling Christie frequently once he was no longer a rival for the party crown, and on Thursday, the two met at Trump Tower in New York City with their wives. One day later, Christie was in Texas, endorsing Trump while mocking Rubio.

It is revealing that these two punk first term Senators can't get anything done. Not even simple endorsements.

Cruz can't sway Carson. Rubio can't sway Christie.

They command very little respect. They are, as Trump says, Talk, Talk, Talk. And nothing more.

And they are supposed to be the great saviors, riding into to prevent Trump from winning.

Of course we now hear about Plan B (or is it plan K, since there have been so many of these, Jeb, Super-PACs, etc.).

Romney? Trump will flick him of his suit coat, like a piece of lint. Romney, he ran a horrible campaign, and lost an election which he should have won. Do NOT allow yourselves to think Romney is riding to the rescue.

So here we are: The loud and rude anti-Trump people are in the last gasps of their efforts, ineffective to date but not short of volume.

But they have no candidate, and they have no effective means. You are like the Cubano twins: Talk, talk, talk.

Do you denounce Trump for not denouncing the KKK on State of the Nation this morning?

So we now know the Trump ticket, if it comes to that, will be two Northeast liberals.  Trump/Christie 2016.  How's that going to play west and south of the Delaware river?

How unfortunate that so many presidential candidates turn out to be such children.
