Kasich Says He Is Gaining Momentum: 'We're the Engine That Can'
Sunday, February 21, 2016 11:43 AM

By: Greg Richter

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is dismissing calls to drop out of the Republican presidential race, saying he is just now getting noticed.

"First of all, I'm starting to get known in this country for the first time, and the message is being heard," Kasich said Sunday on "Face the Nation." "As I heard Bernie Sanders saying, it's proportional. I don't have to win these places; I just have to hang it there and continue to gain momentum."

Kasich said he never expected to win in South Carolina, but pointed to his second-place win in New Hampshire. He believes his appeal lies in states such as Massachusetts, Vermont, Michigan and Virginia.

He also said he expects to "outperform" in Mississippi, and noted that he has exceeded expectations throughtout the campaign.

"We feel good about where we are," Kasich said. "Everybody, just hang on. Things are going to settle down."

As for those who think he should drop out so the establishment vote can gather behind Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Kasich had some advice: "If people want to consolidate, they ought to consolidate my way."

I'm sorry, but the Preacher Man is an egotistical, self-serving ass. I haven't liked him from the start, and I like him less now.

Yep and I hate that kind of self-serving crap. Now say if Rubio or Cruz busted open a good lead on the other, but the other still had a sizeable following, that is the time to broker and join forces with a VP slot.

But to sit back and sneer with just enough percentage points to be a spoiler, and try to use it as leverage for something, is gutter tactics. Especially from the guy who always pretends to be righteously above the fray.

Which is which?
