Two NYPD officers shot, one suspect killed in Bronx

Two NYPD officers were shot Thursday evening inside the Melrose Houses, a public-housing complex located on East 156th Street in the Bronx, according to multiple news reports.
NBC4 is reporting one of the police officers was shot in the head and the other officer received a gunshot wound to the leg. One suspect was killed.
The NYPD could not confirm to Patch.com any details on the shootings other than to say the two police officer's conditions were not life-threatening. A spokesperson for the Fire Department (FDNY) could only say the call came in at 8:05 p.m. reporting two people shot at 320 East 156th St.
The two individuals were taken to nearby Lincoln Hospital in stable condition, according to the FDNY spokesperson. Mayor Bill De Blasio had just finished giving his State of the City address just a few miles away when the report of the shooting came in. He had to be rushed out of the venue.
PIX11's Ayana Harry is reporting over 100 police officers were on the scene when the shooting occurred, with many of them entering the apartment building with sledge-hammers, jack hammers and automatic weapons. A manhunt is now underway or at least one suspect in the shooting of the two officers.
PIX11 is also reporting one police officer was grazed in the head by a bullet, and the other officer was shot in the leg.
The NYPD was at the housing complex where the shootings took place as part of a drug-related investigation. The New York Daily News is reporting that one suspect was killed and two more suspects are now in custody.
