@corbe

Willie Nelson is one of the greatest song writers to have ever lived. Here is one of his early songs you will probably recognize.

@sneakypete
Hello Walls, Crazy are fine songs. I know he wrote a lot of songs but I'm not sure if there are that many great ones.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_written_by_Willie_Nelson

He recorded Heartbreak Hotel, he didn't write it.

Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard wrote many, in my opinion, those songs are better. Just speaking for country music.  Don Williams is pretty good too; but is not all that well known, Tulsa Time and a few others.

Looks like "Whiskey River" and "Tennessee Whiskey" were penned by others.

Just if we are talking about country music, Johnny Horton who died as a young man in his 30s, certainly wrote some very good songs and I discover new ones still.

These were written by Johnny Horton, performed by other artists.

Hoodoo Gurus.

Accompanying video has nothing to do with the music, but it works.

Yes, Sonny Boy Williamson, Help Me, TYA, Ten Years After made a bunch of those "pop" festivals back in the day if anyone remembers.  Their version of Help Me was on, Stonedhenge or one of those. I liked them quite a bit, I'm not into Blues as much as most folks are but I appreciate it.

Foggy Mountain Breakdown... this was from a bluegrass festival back around 1971, it's just unique because everyone steps up and plays that riff from foggy mountain breakdown and this is hosted by Earl Scruggs.

One of Scruggs' son is in the video, he went on to record some music, one of the Osborns is in it, that is a prominent bluegrass group as a lot of people know, and then, this Asian guy, I'm sure he's someone well known and plays very ably.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJOIqmlI65Y

Quite unique.

------------------

Thanks Skeeter for his recommendations and SneakyPete's, of course, Ronstadt did a lot of good records that many of us know.

Jerry Clower is classic, the old trucking radio shows would play some of his comedy, I sat down and listened to some off of youtube; from what I heard, good clean comedy from what I heard and very funny.  I always saw his albums but never bought any.
