That is the ultimate frustration of the GOPe, and the Dems to some extent. Every time Trump is attacked, his poll numbers always go up. How can you counter that?
The problem is that 'the establishment' has been so incredibly Liberal, and has deeply betrayed and demeaned their own base so many times and for so long that nobody cares what the GOPe has to say anymore. They have zero credibility.
As PeeWee Herman would say, "I know you are but what am I?" The point being that any time an establishment hack starts calling Trump a Democrat, or a Liberal, or an establishment candidate, or he used to support abortion, and all the rest, the base just laughs and responds with, so how is that any different from You? LOL
It is always a classic, pot calling the kettle black, scenario. The GOPe is screaming, Trump will do this, or Trump will do that!! And so many times their Trump accusations are things that they themselves have already done, many times. It is kind of laughable, in a way.
The GOPe has so poisoned the well, that there is nothing Donald Trump may or may not do that would be worse than the things that they have already done. So, many voters on both side feel that they simply have nothing to lose by electing Trump.
