Man we spend a lot of time psychoanalyzing these people, we put their entire lives under a microscope and continually debate the definition of "is".
I have to laugh when I picture JFK or Reagan being subjected to this craziness....

Yeah 240B - why should they let facts get in the way of a fun recess at kindergarten?  Let the children play, it keeps them from being afraid.

Not only does Trump live rent-free in their heads - he's got a year lease!

Aren't you one of the most vocal critics of those who dare make fun of Trump supporters?

It's OK to mock those who oppose Trump as being at a kindergarten level, but not OK to dare say anything bad about Trump supporters?

Yeah.....

That's the way it ought to work......    **nononono*

They were.

So you think there were lengthy reports of Kennedy's womanizing?
Or Reagan divorce/whatever?

The only difference is the internet.

The media was able to hide information about JFK, but the discussion among Christians about JFK was intense.

True, the media was able to hide it but I don't think we were not so hypercritical of other people then.
Not only do we treat politicians like criminals, we do the same to each other, even to the point of criminalizing disagreement.
I do remember there a lot of talk about a Catholic President vs a President that happens to be Catholic....  Looking back that was funny.

We're way past that now.  If you would look at the stories on TBR's front page - you will see, at times - NOTHING but anti-Trump stories.  And then if you go to those stories, you will see a bunch of schoolchildren in their little groups going on and on that somebody compared Trump to God - and look at his hair - and his wife does porn - and he doesn't ask for forgiveness - and he wants single payer...................

People that have tried to defend Trump have patiently explained their reasoning behind it, patiently tried to not smear other people's candidates, patiently tried to correct the false information - but it is like talking to a wall.

Now, I have no doubt you will accuse me of calling you a liar - I'm not.

I'll mock you all if I want to - you have shown your refusal to talk on an adult level and you all have a 24/7 obsession with anti-Trumpness - just like Glenn Beck.  Glenn got caught in a lie and instead of being humble about it - he doubled down on his spewing.

If you want to dish it out, be prepared to have it served back to you.  Not going to argue for days with anyone about it - this is the way I feel - and frankly, I don't care how you all feel.

You're mistaking me for one of your fellow Trump devotees.  I would never accuse you of lying when you're just voicing your feelings/opinions.

I'm just laughing that you go around attacking others for saying anything bad about Trump supporters while you continue to mock those who don't support him.

I find the hypocrisy amusing.   Rules for thee, but not for me.

I still think it's the internet that has exacerbated the hypercritical nature in all of us.

(Imagine if Democrats had had the Internet when Richard Nixon was running.  They abhorred him.  Then imagine if we had had the internet and could have voiced to each other about McGovern?  Mockery??  Don't you remember?)

Donald Trump Tells The Brody File: We Christians Must "Stick Together"

GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump tells The Brody File that Christians must, “ban together” and, “stick together” to protect Christianity. “It’s under siege,” Trump says. “You look at Syria where they’re chopping heads off, specifically of Christians, and others…we have to do something, we have to ban together, we have to become stronger as Christians because it’s very bad what’s happening with respect to Christianity. We’re not banded together properly. We have to stick together.”

The Brody File sat down with Trump at Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia on Monday afternoon. During his speech he spoke about this idea of protecting Christianity.  I tried to get a better handle on what he meant exactly. While he mentioned the treatment of Christians in Syria and the absence of, “Merry Christmas” in department stores, it seems Trump is trying to say that he’ll be a president who will come to the support of Christians overseas and domestically by speaking out against political correctness from the bully pulpit of the Oval Office. Many evangelicals see President Obama as hostile to Christianity. Trump seems to be implying that he will be the exact opposite of that.

David Brody: “ (You say) we need to protect Christianity. How exactly? What do you mean by that? “

Donald Trump: “ It’s under siege. You look at Syria where they’re chopping heads off, specifically of Christians, and others. And Christianity is under siege David. As you understand well from covering it. And we have to do something, we have to ban together, we have to become stronger as Christians because it’s very bad what’s happening with respect to Christianity. We’re not banded together properly. We have to stick together whether it’s very, very serious things like what’s happening over in the Middle East or things such as ‘Merry Christmas.’ You don’t see it anymore in department stores. We have to get together and make sure it’s what we want.”

Exactly.  With that statement, I'm really beginning to feel he is even more narcissistic than Hussein.  Trump is so good that he doesn't need to ask for forgiveness?  Come on.  With some of the uncalled for and unprovoked ugly comments he has made about others recently indicates his character certainly isn't perfect and without needing to ask for forgiveness.  Trump's 'holier than the Almighty' is certainly starting to shine through.  I don't see Trump at all as having strong Christians values or strong Christian roots.  He recently attended Liberty University where Cruz made his presidential kick off speech. By the reviews and Trump's comments I think he made a fool of himself and it was obvious the he lacked the evangelical ties that he proclaims that he has. He made have evangelical ties strictly in a business sense, but lacking in a spiritual sense.  Another classic example of Trump 'talking the talk' but not 'walking the walk'.  However ... Jerry Falwell would disagree with me ... sorry folks ... I'm not a huge Falwell fan.

Trump has me agreeing with him on yet another issue.

I dare take it even further. In my opinion it would be better to keep Islam in the Middle East. America's JudeoChristian traditions are compatible with the constitution. Islam is not; unfortunately, a significant number of Muslims do not play well with others.

The Republican Party is naked.  Within itself, there is NO moral majority.  20, 30 years ago - yes.

And it was 'grass-roots.'  Nobody had to tell anybody, "Hey, we are the moral majority."  Everybody knew it.  There were no questions asked.

The progressive Republicans came in and plundered it.  Beginning with the likes of Karl Rove, Laura Bush, and Dick Cheney.  Do you really think being constantly surrounded by those three that George W. wasn't in on it?

Movers and shakers ..

You completely misinterpreted what I said.  I was saying that to ask someone if they ever ask for forgiveness is no one's business.  I said it was a creepy question to ask.  Someone asked me if I would feel that way if it was another candidate other than Trump and I responded that, "You're damn right I would".

That question is nothing more than a trap being laid and I'm glad to see Trump didn't fall for it.

Anyway, as usual, his answer is being interpreted the way that Trump Haters (yeah, I said it) want to configure it to suit their mockery of him.  He said he didn't like having to ask for forgiveness, so he tries not to do anything to have to do that - but that's business as usual with people that don't like him.

Go back and read the opening post,  AW.   Trump was specifically asked if he wanted to take back a comment - widely reported, if I recall - that he had never asked God for forgiveness.   Now he says "rarely", but I believe what he said the first time.

I don't know whether you are Christian, AW,  or whether a candidate's relationship with God ought to be important in judging his integrity and person.  Yes, that's a matter of individual conscience.   But I find it rather astonishing to hear so many Christians uncritically supporting a cat who flatly declares that he's never asked to be forgiven for a transgression  (and even now when asked to expand on his earlier statement proudly declares he's all about doing good so forgiveness just never enters into it.)

It may not bother you,  but to me it encapsulates the dangerous arrogance of the man (perhaps not so surprising when his acolyte Coulter's practically declared him a messiah.)

Trump is an odd duck,  and his appeal to Christians, for whom the acknowledgment and forgiveness of sin and the rejection of pride are such cornerstones of faith, is odder still.

All Evidence points to the unmistakable fact that Trump's Worldview is anything But Cohesive.

"I think one of the reasons I'm doing so well is that I am a Christian, I'm a Protestant, I'm a Presbyterian, and I'm a total believer,"

"I believe in the Bible," he continued. "I believe in God and I think I will help them  [THEM?} so much with this country."
What about prayer?
"I am a praying guy," Trump said. He then pulled out a picture of him as a teenager with his confirmation class of 1959 at First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, Queens.
"Pretty good right? I am a praying person," he said.
Praying...for forgiveness...is NUMERO UNO... Donny!

Once again I have no idea what I'm supposed to be outraged about after reading the OP.  Trump's words are rather mundane and typical, aren't they?

You weren't "supposed" to be outraged. I posted it just in case people might want to read it. Reactions are optional, expectations minimal.

And, no, his words are not at all typical of Christians.
