Cuomo: Cruz’ ‘New York Values’ Comment Is Anti-American
Rusty — January 15, 2016
New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, criticized Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz over his ‘New York Values’ comment at last night’s debate.
“Listen, there are many, many wonderful, wonderful working men and women in the state of New York,” Cruz said Thursday night. “But everyone understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal or pro-abortion or pro- gay-marriage, focus around money and the media.”
Cuomo didn’t care for the comments, claiming Cruz was sending an “anti-American” message.
Via Mediaite:
Cuomo didn’t care for those comments one bit. “Not only what he said is anti-New York, it’s anti-American, Allison. I think it’s sad, I think its disturbing for all Americans,” he said on CNN’s New Day.
“In 30 seconds he offended gays, he offended women, he offended 18 million people and he offended one of the largest congressional delegations in this country. You can’t govern like that, you can’t win a campaign like that,” he insisted.
The Governor is placing way too high a level of importance on the value of NYC liberals, which is what Cruz was clearly referring to. Socialists in the city do not in any way, shape, or form represent the same values as Americans. He was insulting those socialists who dominate city council and local elections, and he was insulting borderline communists like Mayor Bill de Blasio. Which is perfectly acceptable in our book.
Oh and by the way, a national poll released by Monmouth University last spring reveals that people in all parts of the country, from every political persuasion, universally agree that New York is an unrivaled leader in political corruption.
It’s quite clear that the rest of America looks at New York with a leery eye as well.
CNN host Alisyn Camerata explained that “New York is more liberal than other places in the heartland,” but Cuomo insisted it wasn’t simply about values. No, the comment was much more nefarious.
“What he said was offensive to gays,” Cuomo claimed. “I don’t believe this country is hostile to gays. I don’t believe it’s hostile to women.”
Apparently New York is the only gay and woman-friendly place in the country.
Cuomo went on a smattering of news programs to further his point that Cruz is practically evil for having dared denigrate ‘New York values.’
In an interview with NY 1, Cuomo said “If he had any class, he would apologize to the people of New York.”
New Yorkers know however, that Cuomo has comments from his past he has yet to apologize for. Namely telling conservatives that they could take their pro-life, pro-second amendment views and get the hell out of his state.
Cuomo unwittingly embodies everything that makes ‘New York values’ a derogatory comment to the rest of the nation.
