Starnes: Why Liberals Are Foaming At The Mouth Over 'New York Values'
Published January 15, 2016

By Todd Starnes, Fox Nation

Donald Trump and the Mainstream Media are foaming at the mouth over the comment Senator Ted Cruz made about New York values.

Now, all of us folks who are not New York City liberals know exactly what Senator Cruz was talking about -- and it had nothing to do with the aftermath of 9-11.

Senator Cruz was talking about cultural and political values.

Duck Dynasty values versus Bill de Blasio values.

He was referring to the permissive New York values celebrating public debauchery that would make the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah blush. Just ask the families from the Heartland who’ve been accosted by topless women in Times Square.

Remember Occupy Wall Street -- turning public parks into human cesspools - people defecating on police cars? He was talking about those values, too.

Along with the values that propelled citizens into the streets to justify violence against police officers.

Senator Cruz was talking about the values that banned churches from public spaces and relegated Christians to second class citizens.

He was referring to the values that let a candidate says he's a pro-abortion Democrat one day and a pro-life Republican the next -- the kind of values that would compel someone to use a national tragedy like 9-11 to score cheap political points.

You see - in that land New Yorkers like to call fly-over country - character counts. A man's word matters.

Those are the values Senator Cruz was talking about.

CRUZ made a MAJOR blunder that will cost him Iowa. Most know what he meant but the response TRUMP gave was PRICELESS. CRUZ did not at least in that point in time at the debate realized that 9/11 was a attack on the USA that just happened in NYC. The country supported NYC at that point because it was an attack on the US. CRUZ even applauded TRUMP with his response which shows CLASS while mentally kicking himself in the a** for saying such a stupid thing. Trouble with NYC is it is a major media , LIB city that will get much more mileage out of that comment that is deserved. CRUZ on the other should for political reasons apologize to NYC and the Country and it will be forgotten almost as quickly. However, CRUZ should have done something about the BIRTHER thing before now to??? JMO

It might p.o. NYC, but most in the interior like Iowa could give a rat's battootie about NYC. It should resonate.

We will see in about 19 days if not sooner in the polls? Possible but the country was attacked and most felt it no matter where you lived. JMO :patriot:

Agreed.  It was a major faux pas by Cruz; not because of what he said so much as because of Trump's answer -- which was very sincere and heartfelt.  Trump turned it around to appear that Cruz was attacking the first responders in NYC.  I watched the entire debate and it seemed at the very end that Cruz realized he had sunk him self -- and called out to the first responders, police, fire men, military, etc., and told them he had their back.

I felt this was Trump's best debate yet.  Cruz had a good debate; but not his best.  You are correct, the media has already made it an issue. Trump did help with his comment that NY Times never gets it right. Even though I got the gist of what Cruz said; it just didn't come across that it was an attack on his liberalism or liberal roots to the very end and by that time it was too late.  If I was going to place bets ... Trump just picked up New York. If Trump would have delivered the same line to Cruz - it would have worked. Cruz needs to stick to what has worked for him -- don't engage first, move forward and remain positive. As for Iowa, I don't think NYC comment will be an issue, but time will tell.
