I strongly disagree. If we take for example those illegals sitting in our prisons that we are supporting with hard earned tax payer dollars that have murdered, raped, or victimized in other ways legal American citizens; they should be DEPORTED and NEVER EVER be given a chance at citizenship NOR should they be given a chance at re-entry.

Those ILLEGALS that are here should be DEPORTED period.  They have broken our laws and should NOT be rewarded.  Yes, we most definitely need to get our house in order and first line of business is building a secure wall and our second line of business in regards to illegal immigration is mass DEPORTATION.  The only thing I might add to this is IF those who are here ILLEGALLY self-deport, they may under very limited circumstances provided that they meet certain criteria, but allowed back into this country after a period of 10 years; however they must apply for citizenship and be approved under the strictest of guidelines.

Illegals that have business and assets have obtained their business and assets ILLEGALLY.  Those businesses and assets should be seized and sold and the proper taxes and penalties paid.  Any further proceeds would be used to fund costs of deportation and erecting and maintaining the border wall.

There was a day, before political correctness, when your scenario might have been the norm. Unfortunately, today we graduate too many civil rights lawyers for our own good. (too many damned slip and fall lawyers, too!)

We pretty much agree, not sure how you got to strongly disagree.

Illegal assets?  The problem is the IRS has been assigning SS#'s to them so they can do business, so from their side, they are really not illegal assets.  There is a school of logic that they are pretty much guilty of identity theft in order to buy housing etc but not sure how real or prevalent that is.

I just think Cruz may have shot himself in the foot with the "lesser conservative" voters and in this game it is all about getting the independents and the traditional non-voters...
My crystal ball broke the other day so just my thoughts, I have no idea.

Looks like Sinkspur was chased off.  I have no interest in smacking down Cruz although I think he is wrong here.  I will be satisfied with any Republican except Trump.

Trump has been the front runner for 8 months so we will have to wait to see if your untested conspiracy theory holds any water.

I totally agree also on the free healthcare, food, etc. But we should also be eliminating that for those who are citizens and are not working. It should be only for
the truly handicapped and unable to fend for themselves.

You won't get any argument from me on that! But the Democrats will NEVER buy in to it!

  I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that when Carling's posting privileges returned so would Sinkspur's, since IMO the justification for banning Sinkspur was questionable in the first place., based on Sinkspur's posts at the time, and the responses of other posters who also thought Carling instigated the thread vomit.

I'd like to see Sinkspur return.  It is clear to me that he was working very hard to quell his inner rage and focus it upon the issues and not the forum contributors.

That is a position that used to be considered "conservative."  No man deserves to take the fruits of another's labor...illegal alien or not.  Unfortunately the argument against illegals too often morphs into "It's not fair that an illegal alien gets my freebie benefits."   IMO that weakens the argument against the socialist safety net.

I agree with Ted Cruz here. In fact, I think all immigration should be halted for a 20-30 year period, enough time for recent immigrants to assimilate.

Immigration (legal, of course) is absolutely essential for economic growth.   We don't procreate enough (few Western nations do)  to grow the workforce needed to generally spark the economy without immigration.

Nations and peoples most often disappear by committing suicide.  The left gets worried about over-population, so they force "planned parenthood" on the nation. Then they realize with surprise that they can't keep their socialist welfare net and Ponzi-scheme socialist economy afloat without a growing population. Voila! We import people who don't give a rip about our country or way of life and let multiculturalism kick that socialist football down the road a few more steps before it crumbles into dust.
