(CNN)Four Secret Service agents were injured Tuesday night in New Hampshire after a car crossed over double-yellow lines and hit the Secret Service officers' vehicle head on.

The four agents, whose names were not released, were transported to Frisbee Memorial hospital. The driver of the other car, Bruce Danforth, 45, died at the scene of the crash and two passengers with him were injured.

Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy said Wednesday that the injuries were "serious, but non life threatening."

"At this time, our personnel have sustained what is described as serious, but non life threatening injuries. Please join us as we keep all the victims of this accident and their families in our thoughts and prayers," Clancy said in a statement.

The four agents were on-duty, traveling north on New Hampshire's Route 16 in a Ford Taurus when the other car, a Mercury Sable, crossed into their lane. It was not immediately clear who the agents were protecting, although several White House contenders are campaigning in New Hampshire.

The driver who died after colliding into a vehicle carrying four on-duty Secret Service agents who were working for Hillary Clinton did not have a valid driver's license at the time of the crash, police said.

Authorities Bruce Danforth, 45, died after he drove his Mercury Sable over the center line and collided head-on with a Ford Taurus on Tuesday evening.

The accident happened at about 7pm on Tuesday in Wakefield, New Hampshire, near the Maine state line.

The agents, who were passengers in a Ford Taurus heading south on Route 16, were reportedly on a detail for presidential hopeful Clinton, who was campaigning at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire that evening.
