Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell celebrated the closing of his first year running the Senate Saturday, saying the chamber has returned to "high purpose."

"I'm proud of what the new Republican majority has accomplished," McConnell said in the weekly Republican address to the nation Saturday.

Republican candidates like front-runner Donald Trump, not to mention Democrats, have consistently faulted the new majority.

"You look at what's going on with our budget process, it's a disaster," Trump said Friday of this week's budget deal. "It's a joke."

McConnell painted the Senate as newly efficient, a shot at the prior reign of Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., as majority leader.

"Many issues languished in the old Senate for years," McConnell said. 'Some were assumed to be too difficult for any Senate majority to address. But the Republican Senate … tackled each of them."

"And the President signed most into law," McConnell continued.

Is it possible for this man to be any more vapid?  Making deals just to make deals and 'tackling issues' that are being pushed by the left wing agenda is an example of doing something?

This guy really needs to get on the SNL staff, he has a great comedic presence.

Let's put him back in the Minority Leadership so he can serve a "lower purpose."  I truly don't care who controls Congress if the President is anybody but Cruz or Trump.  Even if HRC is President and nominates some radical leftist to SCOTUS, the GOPe in the Senate won't block the nomination and will put anyone HRC wants on the court.

Apparently "higher purpose" is rubber-stamping anything Reid/Pelosi/Obama ask for in a bill.

I know!!

When I saw this earlier I had just sat down with a beautiful sandwich: genoa, provolone, red & yellow roasted peppers, fresh bread -- all fresh from the market! 

I had to just put down the tablet, and focus on the football games on Red Zone.  Almost threw up in my mouth just reading the headline!!
