There is a HUGE difference between immigration reform and amnesty. Immigration reform could mean; mass deportation instead of our current 'catch and release' practices. Immigration reform could mean creating stricter immigration laws and finally implementing our existing immigration laws. It could mean cutting off all benefits to those that are here illegally. I am 100% anti-amnesty. I think we should build a wall and deport them all. I think that there should be a moratorium on immigration of any type from anywhere. I think we should send Mexico and other countries a notice that ALL illegals will be apprehended and finger-printed and recorded into a database with NO chance of legal immigration and those seen crossing our borders illegally will be seen as an enemy of the U.S. and dealt with. That's the kind of immigration reform I'd like to see. Point being, immigration reform is NOT amnesty.
Again ... and as shown in the video, Cruz's amendment was to REMOVE THE PATH TO CITIZENSHIP. To me the intent was crystal clear; he wanted to throw a monkey wrench in the bill by producing an amendment that would NOT grant citizenship period.
Rubio and the other gang of eight members and the GOPe need Cruz out of the way. They need Trump out of the way. Bush is polling at 3%, Rubio is their best shot and Christie would be next in line, but I just don't see that he's got the support needed or the capital to make it for the long haul. Two outsiders are trying to hand the country back to the people and the GOPe and the DEMS are used to getting their way.
