Creeping euthanasia
By Thomas Lifson

For over a century, progressive social engineers dreamed of ridding society of those deemed useless or inferior. The eugenics movement, whose most effective proponent was Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, wanted to prevent births of undesirables, by which Sanger (and others, like Woodrow Wilson) meant blacks, among others.

But the really hard core social engineers, people utterly divorced from the traditional values taught in the Judeo-Christian tradition (which they regarded as an unscientific hindrance to progress), also wanted euthanasia, the ability to extinguish those among the living who were a burden on society. They got their way under National Socialism in Germany, where the “feeble-minded” joined Jews and Gypsies and other undesirables in the extermination effort.

If you think this history has been utterly rejected, think again. Especially when a government takes over control of health care. (Socialism again!). From Life News (hat tip: iOTWReport)

A British hospital is apologizing after the family of a man with Down syndrome found that a “do not resuscitate” order had been placed on his medical records without their consent.

The incident began in 2011 when 51-year-old Andrew Waters, who has Down syndrome, spent some time at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Kent, Yahoo News reports.

After Waters was discharged, his family discovered the DNR order on his medical records; the reason given was “Down’s Syndrome, unable to swallow (PEG fed), bed bound, learning difficulties,” according to the report. The family, who often visited Waters, was listed as “unavailable” on the report.

The East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust apologized for the incident Tuesday and promised that the group has taken action to make sure it will not happen again.

They got caught, but this mentality is far from extinguished. Andrew Waters was a burden on the budget, and the medical technocrats made a choice for him, that they would divert resources elsewhere. And they have the power to do this, because they did it, and it was only accidentally discovered.

When you put the government in charge of medical care, you hand over the power to choose who lives and who dies. Power corrupts. Life and death power corrupts absolutely.
