American left demands strict gun control laws (like France!) in the wake of San Bernardino shootings

Democrats, frightened of pointing to explicit incitement to violence against infidels in the Koran and Hadith, are instead blaming the availability of guns for the violence in San Bernardino.
President Obama demanded “commonsense gun control” while the San Bernardino perpetrators were still unidentified, and he admitted that “we don't know that much yet.”
The American left is reflexively blaming the Second Amendment for the violence caused by a pious Muslim who recently grew a beard and started wearing Islamic garb, and the bride he brought back from Saudi Arabia. Geraldo Rivera went so far as to tweet in response to the shootings, “The 2d Amendment is Stupid!!!”
Democrats are once again embracing gun control, a path to electoral disaster in past recent elections. But even worse for them, France, with some of the strictest gun control laws in the world, strengthened even further in 2012, was the site of a far wore slaughter only 3 weeks ago. France’s anti-gun measures have proven worse than futile, possibly even making the carnage from jihadist violence worse:
Attempts to remove Kalashnikov rifles from France have failed miserably. In 2009 French police reported that they had seized 1,500 illegal weapons and another 2,700 in 2010. But this has scarcely made a dent in the more than six million of them floating around Europe, according to the Switzerland-based Small Arms Survey.
According to Europol, the European Union’s law-enforcement agency, “Many firearms are trafficked [illegally] in Europe come from the western Balkans after being held illegally after recent attacks in the area.” The black market in France is enormous where “a Kalashnikov or a rocket launcher can be acquired for as little as 300 to 700 Euros [$325 to $750].” Especially coveted is the upgraded version of the Russian-made Kalashnikov, which is being shipped from Russia into France through the Balkans, driving down even further the black market prices of the older models, according to Kathie Lynn Austin with the Conflict Awareness Project.
Of course, common sense should infrom (sic) us that it is not guns in the hands of the law-abiding, but civilian disarmament, that makes civilians more vulnerable to attack by armed terrorists — including the terrorists who were able to kill or wound nearly 70 people per terrorist on Friday night without interruption in Paris, where Frenchmen are denied the right to keep and bear arms.
Reports have it that the San Bernardino attackers had an arsenal of pipe bombs. Had they been unable to obtain firearms, surely they would have wrought equal or even worse carnage with their explosives.
