ISIS fighters turned over to US allies are allegedly being tortured; it’s not cushy GITMO, is it?

Moral self-righteousness for me, but not for thee may sum up the Obama administration‘s position on torture.
According to the Daily Beast, Islamic State combatants captured by Kurdish forces with the help of U.S. Special Forces troops “are allegedly being tortured” — in violation of international law.
Six ISIS fighters were taken prisoner in the October raid that saw the first American, Delta Force Master Sergeant Joshua Wheeler, killed in direct combat with ISIS.
The Daily Beast reported:
“I am sure they are being tortured, no question,” said a U.S. defense official in Iraq who is familiar with the raid and spoke on the condition of anonymity. He noted that Americans do not have access to them, but added, “You have to remember where we are. Torture is pervasive.”
A hypocritical President Barack Obama was quick to ban waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques in the war on terrorism, suggesting the practices gave Islamic extremists a recruiting tool.
“It’s contrary to America’s traditions,” Obama said in November 2011. “It’s contrary to our ideals, it’s not who we are, it’s not how we operate.”
Obama added that it’s imperative the U.S. set a good example for the world.
The example being to condone a rendition program that allows the Kurds to do the dirty work when it comes to captives?
While the White House remains silent, they work feverishly to empty the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.
Falling back on the familiar argument that the detention camp “has been an enormous recruitment tool,” Obama said in 2013 that “our allies won’t cooperate with us if they think a terrorist will end up at GTMO.”
But they’ll accept jihadists being handed over to the Kurds?
Few will have sympathy for ISIS terrorists, as the reaction on social media proves, but the hypocrisy of the administration could not be more apparent.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
