Western leaders have reportedly agreed to extend sanctions against Moscow over the crisis in Ukraine by six months.
An unnamed senior European diplomat said US President Barack Obama and leaders of Germany, the UK, Italy, and France, had a brief meeting on the sidelines of last week’s G-20 summit in Turkey. They concluded that it was important to uphold pressure on Moscow ahead of elections in eastern Ukraine. The U-S and the European Union have imposed several sets of economic sanctions against Russia over the conflict in eastern Ukraine since early 20-14. Moscow denies any involvement in the conflict and says the sanctions will not change its stance on its neighbor.
