Trump in favor of subsidies for wind energy
« on: November 21, 2015, 02:20:37 pm »
Quote
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump told an Iowa crowd Thursday that he is in favor of federal subsidies for wind energy.

During a voter forum in Newton, Iowa, Trump said he's "OK" with wind energy subsidies, mostly because the price of oil has plummeted during the past year. With oil costing so little, there's not much incentive to build windmills to generate wind energy without subsidies, Trump said....

...."It needs subsidy, otherwise they're not going to get built," he said. "They're very expensive to build and they're very expensive to maintain."....

...because they are expensive to build and maintain... and other sources of energy have become too cheap to make it advantageous to build expensive wind farms...  so we must build the more expensive option because other energy is too cheap.....

...yep, he is going to make a good government bureaucrat.

I also imagine that wind farms are more expensive than rockets

He is all about "great management," according to him. What is "great management" about making unwise investments?

To make wind energy a better investment choice, we should bomb the "s***" out of middle east oilfields, drive up the price of oil, make our own fracking more viable again, etc.

Amazon building wind power facility in Ohio. I wonder if they get any form of government subsidy?

True, but let private industry retrieve it, and get government the hell out of the way. Same with wind. Get government out of the equation.

Let me put it into terms that even you will understand.

Problem Statement - The Public School System is a failure, and kids test scores are dropping to historic levels.  Many kids by the end of their senior year have yet to master basic math because of no child left behind, and Common Core.   What should be done?

1)  Increase Government Involvement
2)  Less Government Involvement.

There is only one conservative answer. (2)

Now when the problem statement changes to the rising cost of energy, all the candidates agree that we look at all forms of energy. But the same questions arise. More Government which is always tied to subsidies, or less government?
