Whoopi Warns Against Letting in Only Christian Refugees: 'Hitler Was a Christian'

On Tuesday's The View, the ladies were once again sitting around the table at ABC studios and discussing the pressing issues we are facing as a country - in this case, Syrian refugees. When the idea of only allowing Christian refugees across our borders came up as a topic, Whoopi Goldberg, WWII aficionado, chimed in with this reminder of why that would be a terrible idea:

    Hitler was a Christian.

And no one laughed. Really!

Goldberg's stupidity wasn't in isolation as evidenced by co-host Joy Behar throwing out things like, "Timothy McVeigh was a Christian."

"There have been a lot of horrifying – there have been a lot of monster Christians," Goldberg blurted out in agreement, before spewing her Hitler doozie.

Yes, because Christians bomb federal buildings, kill children, and gas millions just because you don't like them, that's obvious.

Candace Cameron Burke, the panel's outspoken Christian, was the only one to utter disbelief at Goldberg's Hitler comment, saying doubtfully, "I'm not so sure."

But Goldberg doubled down, saying, "Well, he didn't like the Catholics, remember? So he thought of himself as a Christian person."

Newsbusters provided the clip (below) and also a list of historians and journalists who don't agree with Goldberg:

New York Times columnist Joe Sharkey highlighted that Hitler’s forces planned to destroy German Christianity.

Author and professor emeritus of history at Marquette University Michael Phayer wrote: "By the latter part of the decade of the thirties church officials were well aware that the ultimate aim of Hitler and other Nazis was the total elimination of Catholicism and of the Christian religion.”

Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich author William Shirer wrote: “nder the leadership of Rosenberg, Bormann and Himmler, who were backed by Hitler, the Nazi regime intended to destroy Christianity in Germany, if it could, and substitute the old paganism of the early tribal Germanic gods and the new paganism of the Nazi extremists.”

Steve Byas, professor of history at Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College and New American contributor listed “Hitler was a Champion of Christianity” as a falsehood in his book History's Greatest Libels: A Challenge to Some of the Great Lies of History. Citing Shirer, he outlined how the National Socialists’ National Church planned to replace Bibles and crucifixes at altars with Mein Kampf and a sword as well as substitute all crosses with the swastika.

And for the record, McVeigh described himself as agnostic and said upon his death, "If I'm going to hell, I'm gonna have a lot of company." Rumor has it, the first to greet him upon arrival was in fact Hitler.
