--- Quote ---Dodgers starter Zack Greinke opted out of his contract to become arguably the top free-agent pitcher on the market Wednesday.
Greinke, 32, figures to command a significant raise from the $23 million he made last year. He went 19-3 with a major-league leading 1.66 earned-run average and a 0.84 WHIP, making him a favorite for the National League Cy Young Award.
Greinke leaves behind a guaranteed $71 million left on a six-year deal he signed before the 2013 season. He was slated to make $24 million next season, followed by $23 million in 2017 and $24 million in 2018.

It wasn't too long ago that A-Rod received quite a bit of outrage for only $25 million a year.
