Benghazi Committee to Focus on What Hillary Knew, Member Rep. Brooks Says

The House Select Committee on Benghazi will question former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton this week on what she knew about security concerns surrounding the 2012 attacks on the Libyan embassy, taking aim on emails sent by Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was murdered in the incident, Rep. Susan Brooks said Monday.

"We've just been getting thousands of his emails as late as last week," the Indiana congresswoman, a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, told CNN's "New Day" co-host Alisyn Camerota.

"We want to ask her a lot of questions about what they knew, what different people in her department knew, and ask what she did in response to those concerns."

There were hundreds of security concerns raised about Libya in 2011 and 2012, Brooks continued, and the committee wants to find out what the environment was when Clinton, now the Democratic front-runner for the 2016 presidential nomination, headed the State Department.

"What did she know, what did she not know?" said Brooks. "Her emails indicate a bit of this, but we have further questions about what she actually knew, what she was involved in, what kind of briefings she had, who briefed her, who didn't."

But Brooks insisted that while the committee has several questions for Clinton, the focus of the investigation is not about her, and more than 57 witnesses have already been interviewed, more than 40 of whom were never interviewed by congressional committees before.

"These are new facts, and that is what this committee has always been about," she said. "A very fact centric investigation ... and we've also gotten over 57,000 new e-mails."

The Stevens emails show his concerns, requests, and what was going on on the ground, and Clinton is just one witness.

"We have more witnesses to go after Thursday," said Brooks. "This investigation does not end with Thursday. There are other leaders of other agencies we need to interview."
