A shooting outside New South Wales state police headquarters in western Sydney has left two people dead, according to Australian media reports.
Two bodies covered with sheets were seen by witnesses on Charles Street in the business district of Parramatta, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation has reported.
Police are yet to confirm the deaths but have stated an operation is underway and asked the public to stay away from the area.
Vijay Dantu, who lives opposite the police building, told the ABC he heard multiple gunshots.
"I was doing some work at my home and there's a gun shot and I thought it was a tyre puncture," he said.
"Then all of a sudden two more, two more shots came."
